About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day financial operations of a growing U.S.-based company.
You will report directly to the Accounting Manager, who will provide guidance and oversight. Your primary responsibility will be keeping financial records accurate and up to date, while supporting accounts payable, payroll, reconciliations, sales tax, and other bookkeeping activities.
This is initially a part-time position, with the potential for the role to grow over time as the company's needs expand.
The ideal candidate is someone who doesn't simply enter transactions, but pays attention to the details, recognizes when something doesn't look right, and proactively brings potential issues to the team's attention.
What You'll Do
- Handle day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including gathering financial transaction information and entering transactions into the company's accounting software.
- Review automatically imported transactions and verify that they have been imported correctly.
- Perform periodic reconciliations against online banking and credit card statements.
- Maintain accurate and well-organized digital financial records.
- Create invoices as needed.
- Monitor recurring automatic charges and identify charges that may no longer be necessary.
- Prepare bills and proposed payments for approval.
- Track sales tax information and assist with required filings with relevant government entities.
- Prepare payroll information and complete the necessary steps for payroll submission and approval.
- Prepare financial information and documentation needed for management reporting.
- Respond to finance-related questions from other members of the team.
- Collaborate with team members at the company's physical location to scan and share documents when necessary. All physical documents are digitized and subsequently destroyed.
- Pay close attention to your own work and surrounding financial activities, proactively identifying discrepancies, unusual transactions, or other issues that may require attention.
- Take on other bookkeeping or finance-related responsibilities as requested by the company.
What We're Looking For
- Substantial hands-on experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Experience managing bookkeeping for U.S.-based companies.
- Experience with U.S. bookkeeping requirements and taxes, including sales tax.
- Experience managing payroll and payroll software.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping fundamentals, including reconciliations, accounts payable, transactions, and financial records.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- A proactive mindset and the ability to identify and communicate potential issues.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Reliable computer, headset, and high-quality internet connection suitable for remote work.

Compensation
Hourly rate based on experience.
