Backend Software Engineer

This role is only open for candidates that are legally allowed to work within the Philippines

We are seeking a mid- to senior-level Backend Software Engineer to design, build and improve the services that power marketplace and eCommerce integrations. You will own features end-to-end—developing REST APIs and microservices, improving performance and reliability—while working closely with the support/integration team on production issues and API changes.
This is a development-centric role with strong domain exposure to marketplace APIs, order/inventory/product flows, webhooks and the operational realities of high-volume integrations. The ideal candidate combines solid engineering craft with the pragmatism required to keep real customer integrations healthy.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend features and microservices that power marketplace integrations.
  
• Build and evolve REST APIs; improve performance, scalability and observability.
  
• Contribute to integrations with Amazon, eBay, TikTok Shop, Mirakl, Walmart, Shopify, Adobe Commerce, Salesforce
• Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce and WooCommerce.
  
• Implement API upgrades, authentication flows (OAuth/JWT), robust webhook receivers, order/inventory/product/pricing/shipment synchronisation logic, and resilient error handling/retry strategies.
  
• Own unit and integration testing for the features you deliver; participate in code reviews and continuous improvement of development practices.
  
• Collaborate on architecture decisions and support the production support team with deep technical investigation when required.
  
• Participate in release activities (smoke/regression testing, monitoring) and help coordinate with offshore engineering teams.
  
• Communicate progress, risks and technical recommendations clearly across time zones.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong proficiency in one or more of: Java (Spring Boot preferred), Node.js, or Python.
  
• Solid experience with REST APIs, JSON, OAuth/JWT, webhooks and HTTP.
  
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL or MongoDB and solid SQL skills.
  
• Comfortable with Linux, Git, Docker and ideally AWS.
  
• Ability to read logs, debug distributed flows, perform root-cause analysis and write clean, testable code.
  
• Experience (or strong aptitude for) eCommerce platforms, marketplace APIs, payment/shipping integrations or ERP systems.
  
• Excellent written and verbal English; ability to collaborate with support and customer-facing teams.
  
• Proven ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a small, high-output team.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3–8 years of backend software engineering, ideally with exposure to integrations or eCommerce domains (strong mid-level engineers with proven integration work also considered; seniors welcome).
  
• Prior hands-on work with one or more of the listed marketplaces (especially TikTok Shop, Amazon, Shopify or Mirakl).
  
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Redis, message queues (RabbitMQ/Kafka/Redpanda), Kubernetes, CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) or Terraform.
  
• Experience in remote, distributed teams spanning Asia and other time zones.
