Backend QA Engineer

Location: Remote from Europe
Reporting to: Head of Back-end Development

Your Mission

• Analyse business requirements, functional specs, and user stories to design comprehensive test cases and scenarios.

• Perform end-to-end testing of transaction lifecycles, covering initiation, authorisation, settlement, and reconciliation.

• Explore the platform proactively for edge cases, risks, and behaviour the specs did not anticipate.

• Build and maintain the automated test suite in TypeScript with Playwright, covering regression-critical paths and working with the engineering team where needed.

• Automate API test coverage and test REST and gRPC endpoints with Postman, grpcurl, or similar.

• Verify event-driven flows across message queues such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or NATS, including retries and duplicate handling.

• Run regression testing after every deployment, manually where automation does not yet reach.

• Log, track, and manage defects in Jira with clear reproduction steps, payloads, and service logs.

• Validate data across services with SQL queries where a check calls for it.

What You Bring

• 4+ years of manual and automation testing experience.

• Hands-on iGaming experience across areas such as slots, bonuses, sportsbook, or payment systems (a few of these, not necessarily all)

• Experience writing automated tests in TypeScript with Playwright.

• Experience with API test automation, alongside tools such as Postman and test management in TestRail or Zephyr.

• Working knowledge of Docker and the ability to spin up services locally for testing.

• Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).

• Good conversational English.

• A willingness to take on manual testing when required, even if automation is the main focus.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Nice to Have

• Go experience, or the ability to read Go code.

• Comfortable writing basic SQL queries to check data in relational databases.

• Experience supporting UAT with business stakeholders.

• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes or observability tooling.

• Background in microservices architectures.
