Step into a highly visible strategic leadership role where you’ll guide the end-to-end Casualty claims program and set the standards for how complex claims are handled across the organization. You’ll lead a high-performing team, serve as a trusted expert on complex cases, and partner cross-functionally to strengthen processes, policies, and outcomes. In this role, your impact will be seen in improved claim results, stronger operational performance, and smarter, data-driven decisions that support the company’s financial and strategic goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Set and communicate enterprise-wide standards for Casualty loss management, ensuring consistent practices across all regions, while serving as the final authority on complex and high-value claims and monitoring reserve trends

  • Act as a subject matter expert in Casualty claims and coverage, providing guidance on complex scenarios and policy interpretation while driving best practices that improve claim outcomes

  • Partner with Compliance and Audit teams to review findings, develop actionable solutions, and implement training programs that address performance gaps

  • Lead and develop the Casualty Claims team by overseeing workloads, performance, and overall team effectiveness

  • Drive strategic initiatives and contribute to claims and financial goals by leading projects, supporting process improvements, and participating in key committees

  • Represent the organization in depositions and trials related to Casualty claims

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including Actuarial, Risk Control, and Underwriting, to develop policies, support initiatives, and manage budgets

  • Oversee reinsurance reporting and help establish standards and procedures for investigating, evaluating, and resolving claims

  • Leverage data and analytics to monitor trends, identify opportunities, and implement action plans that enhance efficiency, outcomes, and team performance

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience

  • Ten years of casualty claims experience in progressively responsible roles, including large loss claims

  • Prior supervisory or managerial experience

  • Insurance designations, such as AIC, CIC, AIM and CPCU preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Superior knowledge of the theory and practice of the casualty claim functions

  • Advanced analytical abilities and demonstrated experience of good judgment with respect to Casualty loss and coverage

  • Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to motivate claims team members in the handling and disposition of casualty claims

  • Proven knowledge of Casualty insurance contracts, medical terminology, as well as policy conditions and court procedures regarding disputes on liability, damages, or coverage

  • Advanced, current knowledge of the casualty line, relevant court decisions, guidelines in the claims function, and policy changes and modifications

  • Excellent knowledge of computers and claims systems

  • Superior organizational and written and verbal communication skills

  • Occasional travel; a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if driving

The hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within either of the following:

$152,737 - $219,467 or $168,817 - $241,407

A hiring range represents a subset of the full salary range. The actual salary will depend on several factors, including relevant education, skills, and experience of an applicant, geographic location, and business needs.
