POSITION SUMMARY:

The Associate Import Transportation Coordinator supports the efficient movement of international import shipments by leveraging Mohawk’s global partner network, transportation systems, and operational processes to deliver a high level of customer service and operational support. This position is designed as a foundational learning role for individuals beginning their career in logistics and supply chain operations. Under the guidance of leadership and experienced coordinators, the Associate Import Transportation Coordinator develops operational knowledge, communication skills, and industry experience while contributing to shipment visibility, operational accuracy, timely communication, and proactive issue resolution. This role supports company revenue and customer satisfaction through accurate file management, timely shipment processing, and a willingness to continuously learn and grow within the transportation industry.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide timely shipment updates and responsive support for import shipments.
  • Coordinate with customers, carriers, overseas partners, and internal teams on shipment status and delivery requirements.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, responsiveness, and customer service.
  • Communicate delays or service issues proactively and escalate sensitive concerns appropriately.
  • Develop knowledge of transportation processes, documentation, and systems through hands-on operational support.
  • Track and monitor shipments, maintaining accurate file setup, milestones, and shipment visibility.
  • Manage shipping documentation and support cargo availability, dispatch, and delivery coordination.
  • Communicate customs clearance and shipment requirements to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Escalate operational issues, delays, or service concerns when necessary.
  • Assist in investigating shipment delays, documentation issues, and operational discrepancies.
  • Support resolution of transportation issues across air, ocean, rail, and domestic modes.
  • Follow up with vendors, carriers, and internal teams to minimize service disruptions and additional costs.
  • Assist with corrective actions and recovery plans when service exceptions occur.
  • Work closely with Transportation, Customs Brokerage, Domestic Operations, Accounting, Sales, and overseas partners.
  • Maintain professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in training, operational meetings, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support a collaborative, accountable, and service-focused team environment.
  • Maintain accurate shipment data, documentation, and records within CargoWise and related systems.
  • Assist with file finalization, billing audits, and invoice completion.
  • Support compliance with SOPs, customer requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure files are completed and billed accurately and on time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical Skills:

  • Foundational knowledge of international transportation, import logistics, and supply chain processes.
  • Ability to learn and utilize transportation management systems, including CargoWise.
  • Shipment tracking, documentation management, and milestone monitoring.
  • Data entry, record maintenance, and operational system accuracy.
  • Basic understanding of import documentation, billing processes, and compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, Transportation, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Internship, coursework, or prior experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, customer service, or a related operational environment.
  • Exposure to international transportation, freight forwarding, or import/export operations.
  • Experience working with transportation management systems, ERP platforms, or CargoWise.
  • Familiarity with shipment documentation, freight processes, or supply chain operations.


OFFICE / WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position operates in a professional office environment (and/or remotely from a home office) with a quiet to moderate noise level and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such computers, photocopying machines and storage/filing cabinets. This is a largely sedentary role, however, lifting items under 25 pounds as well as the ability to bend, stand and walk short distances may be required.

 

Travel Requirement: Less than 10%
