Overview

PEOPLE is seeking a pop-culture–savvy freelance Associate Games Editor to help expand and elevate our growing suite of digital games. This role blends editorial judgment, game sensibility, and cultural awareness to create fun, smart, addictive experiences that reflect PEOPLE’s voice and engage millions of users daily.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the game production workflow for multiple games, making sure all games are produced, edited and scheduled on time

  • Assist in managing freelance contributors, including assigning projects, editing submissions, and ensuring deadlines are met.

  • Manage producing and deploying games-related newsletters (Puzzler daily and weekly newsletters)

  • Pitch, write, and edit daily games in PEOPLE's games suite

  • Maintain editorial accuracy and consistency, ensuring all puzzles and games meet PEOPLE’s standards for clarity, fairness, and tone.

  • Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to refine gameplay, improve user experience, and help launch new interactive formats.

  • Support long-term game strategy, including series development, seasonal programming, and special event tie-ins.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in digital media, editorial, marketing, game design, or related field.

  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience with project-management applications like Airtable, Jira or Monday

  • Experience working with marketing platforms such as Iterable, Blaze and/or Salesforce

  • A strong command of entertainment and pop culture across TV, film, music, celebrity, internet culture, and lifestyle.

  • Proven writing and editing skills with the ability to produce crisp, engaging, error-free content.

  • Experience creating quizzes, puzzles, trivia, or other interactive formats is a major plus.
