About the role:

The Associate Director, Analytics Engineering will help build and scale our Analytics Engineering function. In this leadership role, you will mentor team members, establish data quality standards across programs, and refine engineering methodologies to enhance client delivery. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in conducting code reviews, developing robust data quality testing protocols, and championing best practices to drive operational excellence for our clients. 

In this position you will:

• Design, implement, and maintain repeatable data quality testing methodologies and automated validation frameworks for analytics engineering team members to execute across all client programs.
• Partner with Engineering and Program leadership to help stand up, scale, and mature the Analytics Engineering function by defining core processes, documentation standards, and delivery frameworks.
• Provide ongoing technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to analytics engineering team members to foster continuous growth and ensure delivery excellence. 
• Perform hands-on data work for critical projects and programs, stepping in to support delivery teams in executing client deliverables.
• Monitor data pipelines and warehouse architectures to ensure high accuracy, reliability, and compliance across diverse datasets.
• Design, refine, and champion analytics engineering best practices and workflows to optimize overall client delivery.
• Conduct regular code reviews and enforce best practices for code maintainability, performance, and scalability.
• Serve as the technical subject matter expert for Analytics Engineering, guiding both internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Other responsibilities and duties as assigned. 

What we are seeking:

• 8+ years in data or analytics engineering, with proven expertise in data modeling, transformation frameworks, and modern warehouse architectures (consulting or public sector experience a plus)
• Experience coaching or mentoring technical team members, including conducting thorough code reviews and enforcing best practices
• Proven track record of designing, implementing, and maintaining data quality testing methodologies and automated validation frameworks
• Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
• Ability and willingness to jump into hands-on data work to support project execution and meet complex client deliverables
• Strong background in establishing engineering workflows, documentation standards, and scalable practices to elevate client delivery
