Associate Designer - Lord of the Rings Online

The Associate Designer is responsible for supporting the design and implementation of game systems, mechanics, and itemization, and working with the Lord of the Rings Online team in the Design team at Standing Stone Games reporting to the Producer, this position will be responsible for: 

• Work on compelling systems for a massively multiplayer game
  • Support the design team in improving current systems and delivering new ones
• Collaborate with and learn from an internal team of world builders, artists, and designers
• Learn proprietary tools quickly and work within a complex pipeline
  
  

What craft expertise you’ll have:

• Tools/Technology /
  • Required:
    • Strong general computer skills (very comfortable in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Desired:
    • Scripting/coding experience, such as Python, Perl, C# or similar languages
    • Experience with version control software, such as Perforce Knowledge
• Knowledge
  • Required:
    • Familiarity with game design principles, specifically MMOs and group content
    • Understanding of numbers and mathematics as they relate to game balance
  • Desired:
    • Experience with The Lord of the Rings Online
    • A mature, professional attitude and work ethic; you need to be able to champion your ideas, yet accept and value the ideas of others
    • Experience playing MMOs
    • Familiarity with the works of J.R.R. Tolkien
