Northern Allowance: $16,328 per year for successful hire in Iqaluit

The Application Analyst is responsible for the design, installation, testing, optimization and administration of all Government of Nunavut applications and databases within the solution delivery network environment. This includes all GN departmental software and applications that reside on Microsoft, Oracle, MYSQL and other proprietary databases. This position is responsible to establish standards and guidelines related to GN software, applications, and databases. The analysis, planning, and design of the GN’s core software, applications and databases are the responsibility of the Solutions Delivery group within IM/IT. The Application Analyst reports directly to the Manager Solutions Delivery and will work closely with resources within the Solutions Delivery group and other members of IM/IT as well as related third-party vendors.
The primary responsibilities of Applications Analyst include the following:
Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of application, software, and database security standards, ensuring the integrity and security of GN network environments.
Analyze budget implications and technical requirements related to the implementation of new databases, applications, and software technologies, as well as the upgrade and enhancement of existing systems.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a two-year (2) post-secondary College Diploma program in computer sciences, information technology, or related engineering program.
•Four (4) years of recent experience in a large (over 2000-users network) complex enterprise-wide networks with diverse solutions from multiple vendors.
•Three (3) years of progressive experience in physical and virtual desktop hardware, operating systems, software and applications support in a medium to large enterprise or Government network environment.
•Current Vendor certifications where the GN has standardized manufacturers such as Microsoft SQL, Oracle, MYSQL
The following will be considered as Assets:
Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations applicable to information management and information technology (Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Consulting and Audit Canada standards, etc.) to ensure systems integrity, reliability, and security.
This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
