Job Summary
The Business Systems Analyst supports the design, implementation, optimization, maintenance and issue resolution of Cerner Revenue Cycle Applications with a primary focus on Scheduling, Registration (Patient Access), eSignature and HIM workflows within Cerner Millennium. This role will partner with clinical and financial teams to ensure smooth operations and work with Senior Analysts to develop expertise across the revenue cycle applications and workflows.
This position supports Acute Care, Behavioral Health, and Inpatient Rehabilitation environments.
Essential Functions
- Monitors the resolution of maintenance or enhancement issues related to Revenue Cycle Workflows (Scheduling, Registration, and HIM).
- Works with respective HSC Patient Access, HIM, Clinical team members, Leadership, and stakeholders to evaluate design and recommend modifications to existing applications.
- Collaborates with operations and vendors to understand workflows and assist in implementing business and operational needs
- Coordinates assigned work to meet deadlines and ensure consistent progress toward completion
- Regularly meets with users, vendors, and IS staff to support development and modification of system specifications
- Performs system testing and prepares appropriate documentation and training material for assigned changes and enhancements
- Assists with completion and maintenance of Cerner Data Collection Workbooks (DCWs)
- Researches and resolves ServiceNow tickets in accordance with procedures and policies.
- Assists with training users for system operation and troubleshooting
- Maintains Service Excellence principles
- Keeps up to date on relevant Cerner Millennium system changes, enhancements, and release notes
- Supports integration awareness between Scheduling, Registration, and downstream Revenue Cycle workflows (eligibility, billing, HIM processes)
- Performs other tasks as required by management
Qualifications
Education/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, or related field preferred
Other Skills:
- Basic knowledge of patient access, scheduling, registration, and revenue cycle workflows
- Exposure to Cerner Millennium Scheduling, Registration, Reporting or eSignature functionality preferred
- Understanding of healthcare operations in hospital or clinic settings preferred
- Ability to support a ticket-driven workload with shifting priorities, as needed.
- Requires critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to learn with guidance
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with team members and stakeholders
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action
- One or more years of experience in healthcare operations, patient access, or application support preferred
