The officer will conduct personal outreach to alumni cohorts to rebuild relationships and record constituent details in Salesforce. They will also support annual fund execution, including campaign segmentation and stewardship activities.

POSITIONS PURPOSE
The Alumni and Community Engagement Officer reconnects Concordia University Texas with its alumni and community as the university enters its Centennial year. Working cohort by cohort through calls, discovery conversations, handwritten notes, and email, this position rebuilds personal relationships with generations of alumni who have not heard from CTX in a personal way, and records every contact and updated constituent detail in Salesforce. The role also supports annual fund execution, including campaign segmentation, appeal follow up, and thank you calls tied to the Centennial and end of year appeals. This is a six-month, full-time, remote term position focused on establishing the relationships, systems, and processes that carry alumni engagement forward.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
  • Conduct personal outreach to assigned alumni cohorts through phone calls, discovery conversations, handwritten notes, and email, maintaining a consistent weekly contact volume agreed with the Vice President of Philanthropy.
  • Manage a single relationship pipeline that combines names drawn from alumni records with referrals from faculty, campus ministry, church partnerships, and outreach staff, ensuring every referral receives timely and personal follow up.
  • Record all contacts, conversation notes, and corrected or newly obtained constituent information in Salesforce so records stay current, searchable, and usable by others.
  • Identify and qualify alumni and friends who show interest in or capacity for supporting CTX, and hand them off to the Vice President of Philanthropy or an assigned gift officer for cultivation and solicitation.
  • Support annual fund execution, including campaign segmentation in Salesforce, appeal follow up, and thank you calls tied to the Centennial and end of year appeals, working within the timeline and messaging themes set with Communications and Marketing.
  • Build and document repeatable processes for alumni identification, outreach, and stewardship so the work and the institutional knowledge remain with CTX beyond the term of this position.
  • Other duties and functions as needed
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & PRINCIPLES
  • Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • Two or more years of experience in alumni relations, development, donor engagement, membership, ministry, sales, or another role built on relationship building and regular personal outreach.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to initiate phone calls and personal conversations with individuals the caller has not previously met.
  • Strong written communication, including the ability to write warm, personal notes and emails that read as individual correspondence rather than mass communication.
  • Working knowledge of a constituent or customer relationship database, with the ability to enter, track, and retrieve records accurately and consistently.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting, sustain a weekly outreach volume without daily supervision, and follow through on referrals received from colleagues.
  • Discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential alumni and donor information.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for campus events, congregation visits, and donor meetings.
  • Ability to articulate and model the Concordia University Texas’ mission, vision, and values
  • Commitment to encouraging and supporting diversity, inclusion, and equity as a key component of becoming the premier university where the adventure of faith, learning, and life-changing experiences leads to meaningful work
  • All CTX positions require mission-driven individuals who have a heart for the Gospel and are committed to the Concordia Distinctive, our faith-based mission of empowering students from all backgrounds to lead lives of critical thought, compassionate action, and courageous leadership.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
  • Experience in higher education advancement, alumni relations, or annual giving.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce or a comparable donor CRM, including campaign segmentation, activity logging, and basic reporting.
  • Familiarity with The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, Lutheran congregations, or another faith-based community setting.
  • Experience supporting annual fund appeals, giving days, or campaign stewardship activity.
  • Existing connections to Concordia University Texas alumni, LCMS congregations, or the Central Texas community.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Sustained periods of telephone and video conversation, which are a primary function of this position.
  • Repetitive keyboarding, and handwriting of personal notes.
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to move across and access various areas of the Concordia University Texas campus during periodic on-site visits and events.
  • This position is fully remote for the term of the contract, with occasional pre-scheduled travel to the Austin Main Campus and to alumni, congregation, and donor events.
