Work Location:

• Remote work is permitted; candidates must reside within the contiguous United States.
• Must be able to travel up to 25-75% of the time to support deployments at CONUS and potentially OCONUS locations.

 

In this position, you will:

• Develop, deliver, and evaluate comprehensive air traffic and technical training programs supporting NAS modernization.
• Translate complex FAA operational procedures, system requirements, and technical information into clear, engaging training.
• Develop or maintain instructor-led training, virtual learning, simulations, exercises, job aids, and performance-based assessments.
• Deliver classroom, virtual, and hands-on instruction to operational and technical personnel.
• Partner with FAA SMEs, engineers, system integrators, instructors, and program teams to ensure training accurately reflects system functionality and operational procedures.
• Maintain training materials, curricula, schedules, qualification records, and other required training documentation.
• Provide subject matter expertise regarding FAA air traffic operations, procedures, and NAS environments.
• Identify training risks, gaps, and readiness concerns and work with program leadership to develop mitigation strategies.
• Maintain accurate training records and drive continuous program improvements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• U.S. Citizenship Required.
• Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance. 
• Bachelors degree and 12 years’ relevant experience or Masters degree with 10 years experience or Associates degree with 14 years of experience or HS diploma with 16 years experience.
• Demonstrated experience in air traffic training, instructional design, technical training, training development, and/or training program execution.
• Strong working knowledge of FAA air traffic control operations, procedures, and terminology.
• Experience developing training materials, lesson plans, presentations, exercises, simulations, job aids, and/or performance assessments.
• Experience delivering instructor-led, virtual, and/or hands-on training.
• Strong facilitation, presentation, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel 25–75% in support of program and deployment requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to FAA programs or NAS systems.
• Experience with FAA systems, federal modernization efforts, or mission-critical environments.
• Previous experience as an Air Traffic Controller, FAA instructor, training specialist, or air traffic operations SME.
• Experience developing training for air traffic management, automation, surveillance, communications, navigation, information display, or other NAS-related systems.
• Experience conducting training needs assessments, gap analyses, curriculum development, and training effectiveness evaluations.
• Experience developing or delivering simulation-based and scenario-based training.
• Experience supporting large-scale federal technology modernization or mission-critical system deployments.
• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital training technologies.
• Ability to translate complex operational and technical concepts into training that is clear and understandable to diverse audiences.
• Professional certifications or formal education in instructional design, adult learning, training development, or related discipline.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
