Koin Limited is a fast-growing, multi-brand direct-to-consumer (D2C) e-commerce group headquartered in Poole, UK. The company operates across the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia and is working towards £100 million in annual revenue by 2030.
Koin is an AI-first company. We believe that AI is not a nice-to-have but a fundamental part of how we operate, compete, and scale. We are actively incorporating AI into every element of the business — from marketing and operations to finance and customer experience — and this role sits at the centre of that transformation.
Koin builds and scales digitally-led brands through strong commercial strategy, data-led decision making, and high-performance e-commerce operations.
The brand portfolio includes:
- The Koin Club — licensed collectible coins and medallions
- Tilly Pig — financial literacy products for children
- Jonny’s Sister — personalised gifts and homeware
- Bubba Boo — eco-conscious baby, toddler and adult clothing
- The Wessex Mint — precious metals savings and investment platform
- Pastel Sixteen — contemporary fashion and accessories
The AI Product Engineer is a mid to senior level individual contributor responsible for designing, building, and shipping the internal tools, applications, dashboards, and automations that power Koin’s operations. Everything you build ships to real users across the business and directly supports revenue, margin, and operational efficiency.
This is a product engineering role with a difference: we build AI-natively. Claude Code is the primary development environment, and the expectation is that you orchestrate AI to produce production-grade software rather than hand-coding it line by line. You must, however, genuinely understand what is being built. Reading the code, questioning the architecture, and catching what the AI gets wrong is central to the job.
You will take features from an approved Statement of Work through Technical Design Document, build, testing, and deployment on our internal product stack: Next.js applications hosted on Vercel, Supabase as the data layer (Postgres, Row Level Security, edge functions), n8n for workflow orchestration, and GitHub for source control. The wider business runs on NetSuite, Shopify, and Patchworks, and the tools you build will frequently integrate with them.
Beyond product delivery, the role carries responsibility for process automation and for upskilling the wider team: building Claude-powered automations across departments, creating reusable templates and skills, and coaching colleagues so that AI-augmented work is the default across the business, not the exception.
We are looking for someone who gets genuinely excited by new technology, systems, and logic. Someone with a natural problem-solving mindset who sees an inefficient process and immediately starts thinking about how to fix it. Curiosity and initiative matter as much as technical skill.
This role reports to the Head of Systems & Data and works cross-functionally with all departments. Full training will be provided on Koin’s internal systems and tech stack.
Key Responsibilities

- Disciplined GitHub workflow: branching strategies, pull requests, and managing preview/production environments through Vercel
- Experience building and operating n8n workflows, including error handling and integrations via APIs and webhooks
- The ability to read and reason about the code AI produces (TypeScript, SQL): you will not be hand-coding, but you must understand what is happening under the hood and catch what the AI gets wrong
- Able to produce Technical Design Documents (with AI) covering architecture, data model, and security to a standard fit for approval
- Experience designing and building agent-based workflows, including sub-agents and orchestration agents
- Experience working within Agile frameworks: sprint planning, daily standups, and delivering in sprint increments
- Strong prompt engineering skills with the ability to design, test, and iterate on complex prompts for diverse use cases
