About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized, execution-driven AI Operations & Solutions Engineer with ~2 years of hands-on Python development experience to join our team remotely from South Africa.

This is NOT a theoretical Data Science or Machine Learning research role. This is an execution and delivery role focused on building, deploying, and maintaining internal AI-powered tools, automating workflows, and ensuring cross-departmental operations run seamlessly.

In this role, you will sit behind the scenes of our AI tool-building process. You will be responsible for ensuring that departments deliver required data on time, projects progress according to schedule, materials are validated through strict QA, and Python-based tools and automations are built to high technical standards.

While we actively use modern AI coding tools to accelerate build velocity, you must be a real developer with a solid foundation in Python. Non-technical builders will not fit this role - you need the engineering background to troubleshoot bottlenecks, handle custom logic, perform QA, and build resilient solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Product & Tool Building: Develop, script, and maintain internal AI products, custom tools, and automated workflows primarily using Python and AI frameworks.

• Workflow & Process Execution: Act as the technical operational anchor—ensuring departments transfer necessary inputs on time, project deliverables progress smoothly, and missing materials are flagged proactively.

• Technical Quality Assurance (QA): Perform end-to-end technical QA on built products, scripts, data pipelines, and AI outputs to guarantee reliability and zero-defect execution.

• Integrations & Automations: Connect internal tools, databases, and LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Cursor, etc.) via Python to automate manual operational bottlenecks.

• Light ML / Data Support: Assist with minor Machine Learning components or data transformation scripts when required as part of broader tool-building projects.

Requirements

• Python Proficiency: Minimum 2 years of hands-on Python engineering experience writing clean, structured, and maintainable code.

• Operational Mindset: Exceptionally organized, process-driven, and meticulous about deadlines, QA, and project tracking.

• AI Tooling & API Experience: Proven experience leveraging AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Copilot) and integrating APIs/webhooks into automated workflows.

• Technical QA & Problem Solving: Strong ability to test software tools, identify technical edge-cases, debug code, and resolve execution bottlenecks.

• No-Code / Low-Code Integration: Familiarity with workflow tools (Zapier, Make, or similar) alongside custom Python scripts.

• Portfolio Requirement: Applicants MUST submit a portfolio or GitHub link demonstrating real projects, scripts, or tools built.

• Communication & Location: Native or fluent English speaker with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be based in South Africa.
