About Spotted Zebra

At Spotted Zebra, we're building something we genuinely believe in: an AI-native end-to-end hiring platform that helps the world's leading organisations find the right people, faster and fairer than ever before. In short, we're making hiring something everyone loves again - both talent teams and candidates alike.

We're a multi-award-winning Series A company giving talent leaders the solution they've always needed. Skills science native. AI-amplified. Built by people who've lived and breathed TA and knew there had to be a better way.

What we do

Spotted Zebra brings Interview Intelligence, Skills Assessments, and AI Interview Agent together in one powerful platform, designed for intelligence and action. One powerful agent and assistant: Spot. Working the way talent teams need it to, always with humans in control.

The result is talent teams get the insight to predict who will succeed, the speed to move before competitors, the governance to defend every hiring decision, and the capacity to focus on the human moments that matter most.

But our product is only part of the story. Spotted Zebra isn’t just building an AI-native product; we’re building an AI-native company.  AI is changing how we build, sell, support customers and make decisions. We use it to move faster, stay closer to customers, reduce unnecessary processes, and give talented people more leverage in their roles.

That means joining Spotted Zebra isn’t just a chance to work on the future of hiring. It’s a chance to help shape what the future of work looks like inside a scaling company: compact, ambitious teams using AI to collaborate better, make decisions quickly, and deliver meaningful impact at speed.

The FTSE100 and Fortune500 companies trusting us include British Airways, NIQ, Domino's, Lidl, Merlin Entertainments, AWE, United Utilities, and Paramount. We've been named Personnel Today's Talent Acquisition Supplier of the Year 2025, secured gold across multiple industry awards, and were recently named on the UK Top 100 Startups List.

But what we’re most proud of is the team. People join Spotted Zebra because the mission is real, the product is genuinely exciting, and the opportunity to shape the future of hiring is huge. What makes it special is the way we work: smart, committed people in compact teams where trust is high, decisions happen quickly, and everyone has the chance to make a visible impact.

If that sounds like the kind of place you want to do your best work - read on.

Our Dazzle (That's Our Team!) 🦓

Fun fact: A group of zebras is called a dazzle – and ours truly is dazzling!

We create a culture in which our team thrives and gallops ahead.

As we roam free and empower our dazzle, we gallop ahead on the journey to achieving our goals. We understand this journey will pose challenges along the way, yet we brighten the trail with our positive mindset and encouragement of others. The dazzle continuously moves, gaining knowledge and skills so that we can graze new grounds.

About the role

Spotted Zebra helps large enterprise customers adopt AI-enabled hiring in a way that is practical, responsible and defensible. As AI becomes more central to hiring, our customers need more than a great product. They need to understand how it works, how it is governed, how risk is managed, and how to secure internal approval to use the capabilities in our product from stakeholders across AI governance, legal, privacy, procurement, HR and the business.

We are looking for an AI Governance & Legal Counsel to lead this work, reporting directly to our Co-founder & CCO.

This is a blended, customer-facing role. Your predominant focus will be helping our enterprise customers navigate AI and data governance from pre-sales through implementation, with particular responsibility for helping them secure the internal approvals required to deploy Spotted Zebra successfully.

Internally, you will help Spotted Zebra build and maintain the documentation, processes, regulatory understanding and product-governance requirements needed to support responsible enterprise AI adoption at scale.

Alongside these core responsibilities, you will act as Spotted Zebra’s primary in-house legal counsel. You will review, draft and advise on agreements with customers and suppliers, help the business take pragmatic and commercially sound positions on contractual risk, and support other general legal matters as they arise.

This is not a traditional back-office legal role. You will sit within the implementation team, reporting to our Co-founder & CCO, and spend the substantial majority of your time ensuring that AI and data governance does not become a blocker to successful customer deployment.

You will work closely with the Implementation Manager, Occupational Psychology Solutions Consultant and Integration Solutions Consultant, as well as our Commercial, Product and Engineering teams.

Our ambition is to reduce AI-governance sign-off from the three to four months it can often take today to closer to one to two months. This role will be central to making that possible.

For someone excited by the growth of AI governance, this role offers an exceptional development opportunity. You will work at the intersection of AI, regulation, product, occupational psychology and enterprise implementation in one of AI’s most consequential and highly scrutinised applications: hiring and employment. Our ambition is to support you in becoming one of the world’s leading practitioners in applying AI responsibly and practically within high-risk HR contexts.

What you'll be doing

You will own the AI and data governance workstream across customer implementations. Working alongside the Implementation Manager, OP Solutions Consultant and Integration Solutions Consultant, you will identify what each customer needs to achieve internal approval, coordinate the right Spotted Zebra inputs, and make sure the governance process moves forward with clarity and pace.

You will support both pre-sales and post-sales. In pre-sales, you will help commercial teams answer customer questions around AI governance, human oversight, automated decision-making, fairness, explainability, bias, data protection and privacy and regulatory readiness. During implementation, you will take a more active role in helping the customer secure internal sign-off and prepare for deployment.

A major part of the role will be creating, maintaining and tailoring customer-facing governance documentation. This may include AI governance packs, DPIA support materials, risk assessments, model and product documentation, human oversight explanations, bias-audit evidence, candidate notice wording, FAQs, due-diligence responses and materials that help our buyer present Spotted Zebra confidently to their internal stakeholders.

You will also own important internal governance activity. You will help track relevant legislation and regulatory expectations across the regions in which we operate, maintain our jurisdiction-by-obligation matrix, support day-to-day data and privacy protection and automated decision-making governance, keep key documentation up to date, and communicate legal or governance changes that may affect the product, implementation process or customer commitments.

You will coordinate external and internal assurance work, including independent bias audits, and maintain core AI governance artefacts, such as: DPIAs, risk assessments, provider documentation, technical files, model cards, risk registers and evidence required for AI management system maturity, including ISO/IEC 42001 readiness.

You will also help translate governance requirements into product and process improvements. That could include requirements around consent capture, candidate notices, human review, retention, contestability, audit trails, reporting or customer configuration. You will not be expected to be the technical sign-off owner, but you will need to understand the governance requirement clearly enough to help Product and Engineering act on it.

Over time, you will help turn this into a repeatable customer assurance function: building templates, playbooks, standard responses, implementation checklists and governance workflows that make each future customer approval faster and easier than the last.

Alongside your primary AI-governance responsibilities, you will act as Spotted Zebra’s primary in-house legal counsel. You will review and, in some limited cases, negotiate customer and supplier agreements, advise the business on contractual risk and other day-to-day legal matters, and engage specialist external counsel where required. Your approach will be pragmatic and commercially minded, helping to protect the business without creating unnecessary barriers to growth.

What success looks like

Success means customer governance questions are answered clearly, implementation delays are reduced, buyers feel supported in internal conversations, and Spotted Zebra has a stronger, more repeatable approach to AI governance across pre-sales, implementation and product development. It also means customer and supplier contracts are reviewed efficiently and pragmatically, with clear advice that protects the business without creating unnecessary barriers to growth.

Within your first 6-12 months, we would expect you to have improved the quality and consistency of our customer-facing governance materials, helped multiple enterprise customers secure AI and data-governance approval, contributed to reducing approval timelines, created a more scalable internal process for future customer approvals, and established an effective approach to customer and supplier contract review.
