A Day in the Life

The Cardiac Ablation Solutions (CAS) business is focused on advancing the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias through a comprehensive portfolio of electrophysiology technologies, including cryoablation, pulsed field ablation, and three-dimensional (3D) mapping systems. The Principal Technical Consultant (TC) / Principal Affera Mapping Specialist (AMS) role combines field-based clinical expertise with strategic leadership responsibilities that support the development of the wider UKI CAS organisation.
This position is field-based within the United Kingdom, requiring regular travel to customer sites, training events, internal meetings, and regional activities. The role allocates approximately 70% of time to customer-facing clinical and technical support responsibilities and 30% to a defined specialist focus area such as education, supervision, innovation, or strategic projects.

The Affera Customer Trainer & Principal Mapping Specialist is an experienced clinical and technical professional who provides expert support for electrophysiology procedures while leading initiatives that strengthen team capability, customer engagement, and business performance. In addition to field responsibilities, the role serves as a subject matter expert within a designated specialist area, driving projects and best practices across the UKI CAS organisation.

 

Primary Responsibilities

·       Provide advanced clinical and technical support during electrophysiology procedures, product evaluations, and technology adoption activities.

·       Deliver education and training programmes for physicians, cardiac physiologists, and electrophysiology laboratory staff.

·       Lead initiatives within a designated specialist focus area, including education, supervision, innovation, or strategic projects.

·       Partner with Sales, Marketing, Training, and Education teams to support business and customer objectives.

·       Coach and mentor Technical Consultants and Affera Mapping Specialists, sharing expertise and best practices across the organisation.

·       Develop, monitor, and report metrics that evaluate the effectiveness and impact of specialist initiatives.

·       Represent the UKI organisation in regional or global working groups related to the assigned specialist focus.

·       Contribute to territory, district, and national objectives through clinical excellence, customer engagement, and strategic alignment.

 

Required Qualifications

·       Bachelor's  or Master's degree with clinical, technical, or cardiac electrophysiology experience.

·       Experience supporting cardiac electrophysiology procedures and electrophysiology technologies in a clinical or industry setting.

·       Advanced knowledge of cardiac electrophysiology workflows, mapping systems, and ablation technologies.

·       Experience delivering clinical education, procedure support, and customer training.

·       Ability to travel extensively throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience leading education programmes, innovation initiatives, process improvements, or strategic projects.

Experience mentoring, supervising, or developing clinical and technical professionals.

Professional accreditation such as International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE), European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA), or British Heart Rhythm Society (BHRS).

For Principal AMS roles, experience independently supporting simple and complex electrophysiology mapping procedures across multiple 3D mapping platforms.

For Principal AMS roles, Cryoablation and PulseSelect product certification or equivalent procedural support experience.

The final salary within this range will be determined based on objective, job-related criteria, including relevant experience, skills and qualifications, in accordance with our compensation framework.
