St. Thomas University College of Nursing is seeking a certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) to provide online instruction and academic support to graduate nursing students enrolled in the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program. The successful candidate will facilitate learning through online course delivery, discussion engagement, grading, and timely feedback while promoting evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning. This adjunct faculty member will maintain program standards, collaborate with faculty, and support student success in preparation for advanced practice roles.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach a variety of graduate nursing courses, including but not limited to general nursing and specialized courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, including Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner.
Develop and implement innovative, evidence-based teaching strategies for online learning environments.
Provide academic advising and mentorship to students, helping them set academic and professional goals.
Engage in curriculum development, program assessment and evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives for nursing programs.
Maintain office hours as per St. Thomas University guidelines and support the program’s goals through direct involvement in faculty initiatives.
Actively participate in simulation-based learning activities as needed.
Collaborate with faculty members to enhance student learning, clinical placements, and program development
Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities, including faculty committees and community engagement
Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes student success and addresses the needs of a diverse student population
Stay current with advances in nursing practice and education to continuously improve teaching and clinical instruction.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with an Adult-gerontology primary care focus
National board certification as a Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP)
Active/Unencumbered Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the State of Florida or state of residence.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. or DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) in Nursing from an accredited institution
Experience in a specialized area of nursing practice, such as Adult-Gerontology Primary Care.
Involvement in research or scholarship related to their field of nursing.
At least three (3) years of clinical experience as an AGPCNP
Experience in clinical instruction and/or mentoring students in practical settings.
Knowledge of accreditation standards and experience with accreditation preparation
Experience with nursing curriculum development and program assessment
Strong interest and experience in student advising and mentoring
