Franklin University, a private, independent, accredited, not-for-profit University located in Columbus, Ohio invites applicants for its Adjunct Faculty, Advanced Analytics position during our Spring 2027 term. The Adjunct Faculty role includes primary responsibility for providing quality instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment with an emphasis placed on teaching, supporting and evaluating students.

Position Summary: 

This post is for a part-time adjunct faculty position to teach a graduate-level course, Advanced Analytics, in an online format (12 weeks). This course examines the data analysis process with the emphasis of quantitative and qualitative findings from data. Students will develop skills in data analytics and predictive analytics that will allow them to develop algorithmic methods and use them along with popular industry software for data-driven solutions.  

The faculty should develop PowerPoint slides, lesson plans, and demonstrations and should easily be able to provide examples from a number of fields. The faculty should be knowledgeable and experienced with the statistical analysis methods and the use of various analytical tools such as R, and Python, and be able to conduct demonstrations. In addition to the educational qualifications, the candidate should possess excellent communication skills, work ethics, and passion to teach Analytics/Statistics to busy working adult students with flexibility and integrity.    

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Teaching a graduate-level analytics/statistics course according to the curriculum, content, and outcomes as specified by the Lead Faculty. The class sessions will be held online.  
  • Monitoring and advising students on course-related work, prompt correspondence via email, facilitation of course-related discussions, holding regular office hours and other assigned responsibilities corresponding to the faculty teaching assignment.   
  • Timely assessment and evaluation of student assignments including exams, homework assignments, quizzes, projects, discussions, and other activities related to the course.  
  • Participation in adjunct MATH/DATA faculty meetings/retreats and associated departmental activities as identified by the Lead Faculty for the assigned course, and responding to Lead Faculty’s requests related to course components. 

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or a closely related discipline is required.
    • If the degree is in a related field, at least 18 graduate credit hours should be in the aforementioned fields.
  • At least three years of online teaching experience in higher education. 
  • Be skilled in video conferencing platforms 
  • Be proficient in online learning management systems 
  • Have knowledge and experience with several analytics software such as Tableau, R, and Python.

Preferred Skills and Characteristics:

  • A doctoral degree in Engineering, Economics or Business with at least 18 credit hours in the field of Mathematics, Data Science, or Statistics, or doctoral degree in these fields with a graduate certificate in Data Science. 
  • At least 5 years of industry experience with specific projects that are targeting the course outcomes. Candidates with experience in data science, data analytics, data visualization, and machine/statistical learning are preferred. 
  • Any industry certifications in the field of data science or analytics
