The Bridges Training Series Instructor is a part-time, seasonal position responsible for delivering online instruction and individualized support to young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they prepare for life after high school. The instructor will facilitate engaging virtual courses focused on academic success, self-determination, transition to adulthood, and person-centered planning. This position works collaboratively with co-instructors and program staff to adapt curriculum materials, support student participation, and monitor student progress throughout the program.

Duties/Responsibilities

Online Instruction & Student Support (60%)

  • Deliver online courses to groups of 4–10 students twice per week for 1.5–2 hour sessions.
  • Facilitate student engagement and participation in a virtual learning environment.
  • Collaborate with a co-instructor to support student learning and achievement of course outcomes.
  • Tailor instructional approaches and materials to support individual learner needs within a group setting.
  • Respond to student questions and provide ongoing support via email and other communication platforms.

Curriculum & Course Management (25%)

  • Manage and maintain course content within Canvas, the University of New Hampshire’s online learning management system.
  • Modify and adapt curriculum materials to support enrolled students and individualized learning goals.
  • Grade student assignments and homework in a timely manner.
  • Complete student progress reports at the conclusion of each course.

Collaboration & Program Planning (15%)

  • Attend weekly to biweekly planning and coordination meetings.
  • Collaborate with program staff and co-instructors to support continuous program improvement and student success.
  • Participate in discussions related to instructional strategies, student needs, and course delivery.

Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • Experience providing instruction and/or clinical services to young adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of transition to adulthood for young adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, including relevant systems and supports.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching or clinical license.
  • Experience using Canvas or similar online learning management systems.
  • Experience facilitating virtual instruction or online learning programs.

Compensation Pay Range:

$50/hour
