About Us:

Psychiatry UK is the UK’s leading provider of digital psychiatry services, working both privately and with the NHS to support children, teenagers and adults with expert, patient-centred care.

A career with Psychiatry UK allows you to expand your knowledge, enhance your skills, and gain valuable life experience—all while enjoying the flexibility of a remote full-time or part-time role. As part of a leading online mental health service, you'll collaborate with innovative, forward-thinking professionals in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team committed to making a real difference.

The ADHD Continuing Care Prescriber will be responsible for providing ongoing prescribing and monitoring for adults with ADHD, ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centred care. The role focuses on continuity of treatment through regular medication reviews and the management of patients whose shared care arrangements with their GP have been declined.

Working within established clinical pathways, the post holder will not initiate or titrate ADHD medication but will oversee ongoing prescribing in line with NICE guidelines, Psychiatry UK policies, and clinical governance standards. The role requires close collaboration with Consultant Psychiatrists and the wider multidisciplinary team, alongside a strong focus on risk assessment, safeguarding, and proactive patient communication.

A significant part of this role involves managing repeat prescribing processes using both electronic and paper-based prescription systems. As such, the successful candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working within structured prescribing workflows.

This position offers a clear development pathway for clinicians looking to progress their prescribing career. We provide training and exposure to ADHD medication titration, enabling successful candidates to develop the skills and experience required to advance into a Specialist Prescriber role.

This is a home-based position with flexibility in line with Psychiatry UK's flexitime principles. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings or other work-related activities.

As our ADHD Ongoing Care Prescriber, you will:

  • Provide safe, evidence-based prescribing for adult ADHD in line with NICE, Psychiatry UK, and RPS prescribing standards.

  • Manage ongoing patient care, including medication reviews, adherence monitoring, and side-effect management.

  • Respond to medication-related patient queries through secure communication channels with clear, supportive, and clinically appropriate advice.

  • Prescribe independently or as a supplementary prescriber within scope of practice, seeking senior clinical support when required.

  • Work collaboratively with prescribers, psychiatrists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care.

  • Conduct risk assessments, identify safeguarding concerns, and escalate issues in accordance with organisational policies.

  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and legally compliant clinical records using digital systems.

  • Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and prescribing reviews to support clinical governance.

  • Engage in clinical supervision, team learning, and continuous professional development to maintain high standards of practice.

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of prescribing pathways, annual review processes, and service delivery.

To succeed as our ADHD Ongoing Care Prescriber, you will have:

Possess advanced IT and digital literacy skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment and confidently utilise digital health platforms. You will be capable of managing an independent caseload autonomously, demonstrating excellent organisational and clinical decision-making skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities are essential, including the capacity to engage effectively with patients, colleagues, and stakeholders through remote consultations and written correspondence. You should have a good understanding of relevant legislation, professional standards, and current developments relating to ADHD service provision and prescribing practice. Experience of working collaboratively within multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams is important, alongside a compassionate, patient-centred approach and a non-judgemental attitude. The role requires familiarity with ADHD rating scales and validated screening and monitoring tools, as well as a sound understanding of safeguarding procedures, particularly within remote and digital care settings. You must also be able to recognise signs of patient deterioration or distress and take appropriate action, including escalation and direct patient contact where necessary.
