Accounts Assistant

Job Purpose

To support the finance team within a banking/financial services environment with day-to-day accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial records, timely processing of transactions and assisting with reporting and reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing and posting financial transactions in line with internal controls and policies
• Reconciling bank accounts and company accounts
• Managing accounts payable and receivable
• Monitoring and investigating transaction discrepancies

• Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems

• Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes
• Assisting with regulatory and compliance reporting requirements
• Liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders

Skills & Experience Required

• Understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
• Experience with Xero accounting software or similar
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem solving skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organisational and time-management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong communication skills

Qualifications

• AAT qualification (or working towards) preferred
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above)
• Relevant experience in a finance, accounting or banking operations is desirable
