You will lead and manage a team of onboarding accountants to ensure new clients have clean, current, and accurate books. This involves overseeing the entire onboarding process, from initial setup and retroactive cleanup to a smooth handoff to the long-term accounting team.
The Role
Every new client's first real experience with Club Capital after they sign runs through this role. You'll lead our onboarding team and own the path from "just signed" to "books are clean, current, and handed off." You'll manage a team of onboarding accountants working across for-profit and nonprofit clients in all three of our verticals: State Farm agencies, independent and multi-carrier insurance agencies, and youth sports clubs.
This is a senior role. We're looking for an experienced accountant who can do the technical work, lead a team doing the same, and keep dozens of client onboardings moving at the same time without anything falling through the cracks.
What You'll Do
Lead and manage a team of onboarding accountants: assign work, review output, set the bar for quality, and develop the team
Serve as the first delivery lead for every new client after the sale closes, setting expectations and building trust from day one
Own and deliver all retroactive accounting work, including catch-up bookkeeping, cleanup, reconciliations, and getting books current and accurate
Set up new client accounts in our systems and get clients connected to the tools and processes they'll use with us
Manage the change side of onboarding: help clients move off old providers and habits, explain what's changing and why, and get them comfortable working with us
Run a clean handoff to the ongoing CAS accountant who will manage the account long term, with complete books and clear documentation
Coordinate with our tax team for clients who are also coming on for tax work: get the tax team's initial questions answered, share what you've learned during onboarding, and make sure each client gets a proper introduction to their tax team
Track a high volume of onboardings at different stages, spot bottlenecks early, and keep timelines on track
Improve our onboarding process over time: build checklists, tighten workflows, and make each onboarding faster and smoother than the last
What You Bring
5+ years of accounting experience, with significant time at the Senior Accountant level or above
Deep experience with catch-up and cleanup work, including untangling messy or incomplete books
Experience with both for-profit and nonprofit accounting
Proven ability to manage a high volume of work at different stages at the same time
Experience leading, training, or reviewing the work of other accountants
Strong client communication skills. You can explain what's happening with someone's books in plain English and keep them calm when things are messy
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and/or Xero
Nice to Have
CPA or progress toward a CPA
Experience in a CAS, outsourced accounting, or client-facing firm environment
Familiarity with insurance agencies or youth sports and nonprofit organizations
Experience building or improving onboarding or implementation processes
Working knowledge of business tax, enough to spot issues during cleanup that the tax team will need to know about
What Success Looks Like
New clients feel confident in Club Capital within their first 30 days
Books are caught up and handed off on time, accurately, and with nothing left for the ongoing accountant to clean up
Your team is productive, well-trained, and knows exactly what good looks like
Onboarding gets more predictable and more efficient every quarter
