Accounting Manager

Position Summary

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and hold accountable (LMA) a team of 2–6 assigned Accountants — mid-career professionals (5+ years' experience) based in the Philippines who are largely self-sufficient but require ongoing support and oversight. Hold weekly 1:1s with each team member, plus ad-hoc meetings as needed to work through issues.
  
• Manage a portfolio of 10–20 managed accounting clients
  
• Execute monthly close process and deliver financial reports on time
  
• Conduct client communication and meetings on a regular cadence. Communicates accounting and financial information clearly and appropriately for the audience, connecting financial results to business activity and communicating what management should understand from the numbers.
  
• Review and quality-check all client work before delivery
  
• Identify and flag out-of-scope work using the spot-flag-scope-price framework
  
• Track hours against retainer and manage scope to protect margins
  
• Coach and develop Accountants on accuracy, timeliness, and client service
  
• Participate in client onboarding for newly assigned accounts
  

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred

Experience

5+ years in accounting or bookkeeping. 3+ years in a client-facing role. Prior team lead or supervisory experience (managing a couple of direct reports) is preferred. Limited management experience is acceptable, but candidates should be established in the industry — not recent graduates or new to the field.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

We’re excited to welcome talented candidates from Massachusetts, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Texas, where we currently have team members. Massachusetts is preferred, and we’d love to find someone who can occasionally connect with our team in person at our Attleboro, MA office. For the right candidate, we’re also happy to offer a remote-friendly work arrangement within these four states.

You’ll have the flexibility to work in a professional office environment or remotely, with the technology and tools needed to collaborate effectively with our team. The role includes regular use of computers, phones, and video conferencing tools.

Requirements

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture
  
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
