Job Summary

Plant Design I/O is seeking an Accounting & Financial Operations Lead to own the day-to-day financial operations of our growing engineering and software consulting business. This role is responsible for client billing, accounts receivable, expense management, accounting administration, payroll coordination, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and capable of operating independently with minimal supervision. This position reports directly to the President and offers the opportunity to grow into broader financial leadership responsibilities as the company expands.

Responsibilities

  • Own the client billing process, including timesheet and expense validation.
  • Prepare and submit client invoices accurately and on time.
  • Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding invoices.
  • Review employee expense reports and ensure proper documentation.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations within QuickBooks.
  • Coordinate with ADP TotalSource and support payroll administration.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the company's CPA and assist with monthly financial reporting and process improvements.
Requirements

  • 5+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations experience.
  • Strong experience with billing, accounts receivable, and collections.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience performing bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in engineering, consulting, staffing, or professional services.
  • Experience with time-and-expense billing environments.
  • Experience working with outsourced payroll providers.
  • Experience coordinating with external CPA firms.
What Success Looks Like

  • Client invoices are accurate and sent on time.
  • Accounts receivables are actively managed and collected.
  • Financial records remain accurate and up to date.
  • Employee expenses are properly documented and billed when applicable.
  • The President spends less time managing day-to-day accounting activities.
Location

  • 100% remote but applicants in the Baton Rouge metropolitan area are highly preferred.
