2027 Summer Intern, Artificial Intelligence Product Management

What You Can Expect

Join the Artificial Intelligence Product Management team at Zimmer Biomet and get hands on experience building a with AI in a regulated life sciences environment. This internship offers direct exposure to modern AI engineering, AI product development, and AI enablement. You will work alongside Product Managers (PMs) and report directly to the Manager of AI Solutions, contributing to production systems that serve business domains across Zimmer Biomet. The centerpiece of this internship is leading the build of an internal AI Product.

How You'll Create Impact

• Lead the product management of an AI Product
• Contribute to AI Product workflows, including provisioning, setup, configuration and deployment using infrastructure as code (Pulumi).
• Assist with platform observability, including building UIs and reports supporting the core AI Product
• AI agent enablement work, including semantic view definition, AI Agent configuration, and testing AI capabilities in real company workflows.
• Write and maintain product documentation, knowledge base articles, and operational runbooks that enable domain teams to work with the product independently.
• Participate in architecture discussions and team planning, gaining exposure to how product decisions are made in a regulated enterprise environment.
• Learn and apply Artificial Intelligence principles including domain ownership, governance, and product lifecycle management.

What Makes You Stand Out

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• Familiarity with Python and SQL (coursework or projects)
• Interest in cloud AI products, data platforms, data engineering, or data product development
• Familiarity with Streamlit, Flask, or similar Python web frameworks is a plus but not required.
• Familiarity with AI and machine learning
• Strong written communication skills and comfort with documentation
• Self-starter who can take ownership of a project and drive it forward with guidance.

Your Background

• Must be actively enrolled in an academic program for the entire duration of the assignment
• Bachelor's or Master's program in databases, cloud computing, or software engineering
• Junior or Senior standing in a technical degree program 
• Must be available to work full-time (40 hours/week) throughout the co-op session
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship
