2D Vector Artist / Colorist (Freelance)

X-FLOW is a mobile game development company established in 2018. We gained recognition after the release of Happy Color, the most popular digital coloring book and one of the most successful ad-driven mobile apps in the world. We are looking for Freelance 2D Artists / Colorists for our flagship project, Happy Color.

The primary focus of the role is creating illustrations in vector format from scratch, tailored to specific content types and tasks. Work is done primarily in Adobe Illustrator and other vector-based tools.

We provide detailed briefs for each illustration, as well as a finished color composition that needs to be carefully recreated in vector format. The specialist is not expected to develop compositions from scratch — what matters most is the ability to work attentively with references, have a strong sense of color, notice details, and accurately convey the mood, character, and visual aesthetic of the original image.

Responsibilities:

• Recreate finished color compositions in vector format from scratch.
• Work from detailed briefs and visual references.
• Preserve the mood, character, color palette, and aesthetic of the original composition.
• Carefully render details, shapes, objects, characters, and environments.
• Adapt artwork to meet the technical requirements of the project.
• Select and refine color solutions within the given composition.
• Prepare files in accordance with the project's internal standards.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and other 2D/vector tools.
• Strong sense of color, shape, composition, and visual balance.
• Ability to work attentively with a finished reference and translate it into vector format.
• Keen eye for detail, attentiveness, and precision in work.
• Ability to preserve the aesthetic, mood, and character of the original image.
• Experience illustrating characters, scenes, environments, and decorative elements.
• Understanding of stylization and the ability to adapt artwork to a defined visual style.
• A background in fine arts or a portfolio in digital/vector illustration is a plus.
