The Inpatient Coding Specialist is responsible for accurately abstracting inpatient accounts and assigning appropriate ICD-10-CM and PCS codes in accordance with regulatory guidelines. They also identify physician query opportunities to clarify documentation and resolve issues related to reimbursement and compliance.

The specialist will examine medical records to ensure documentation accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards while collaborating with clinical staff. They will also track documentation metrics and provide education to physicians to improve overall documentation quality and revenue cycle outcomes.

The Tumor Registrar performs detailed and complete case abstraction of patient data into the oncology database by analyzing various sources like electronic medical records and radiation oncology charts. This role also involves performing case finding for eligibility determination and conducting follow-up activities for patients in the database.
