YouTube Scriptwriter – Long-Form Video Format (Remote)

We’re looking for a talented YouTube Long-Form Scriptwriter to join our team and write high-retention scripts (8–20+ minutes) across several growing YouTube channels focused on technology, AI, SaaS, tutorials, and educational content.

This is a long-term opportunity for someone who can take a complex technical topic, research it properly, and turn it into a well-structured, genuinely engaging narrative that holds viewers for the full runtime.

Responsibilities

• Write long-form scripts (8–20+ minutes) for YouTube videos on technical and educational topics.
• Research topics in depth, working from documentation, articles, papers, and source material to ensure accuracy.
• Structure scripts into a clear narrative arc: strong open, multiple sustained “acts,” and a satisfying payoff — not just a list of facts.
• Craft a hook and cold open that earns the click and the first 30 seconds of retention.
• Break down complex or technical concepts into explanations that are clear without being dumbed down.
• Use the latest AI research and writing tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, NotebookLM) to accelerate research, outlining, and drafting.
• Build and refine prompts that encode your own voice, structure, and storytelling instincts, so AI-assisted drafts consistently sound like you rather than generic AI output.
• Know when to lean on AI versus your own judgment, and always apply a human editing pass to keep the script accurate, well-paced, and free of “AI-sounding” language.
• Write in the distinct voice and tone of each channel.
• Collaborate with editors and channel owners on outlines, pacing, and title–script alignment.
• Incorporate feedback and revisions when required.
• Deliver scripts within agreed deadlines.
• Organize scripts, source notes, and outlines for easy handoff to editors.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience writing long-form YouTube scripts or comparable long-form content.
• Strong research skills and comfort working through technical source material (docs, papers, articles) without sacrificing accuracy.
• Proven ability to structure a long-form narrative that sustains retention across acts, not just a strong opening.
• Excellent written English, with a strong sense of pacing, tone, and storytelling.
• Hands-on, daily experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) as part of your writing process, including building custom prompts that carry your voice and structural preferences.
• Ability to work efficiently under deadlines while maintaining depth and accuracy.
• Strong portfolio or writing samples showcasing previous long-form script work.
• Strong attention to detail, fact-checking, and structure.
• Team-oriented, reliable, and proactive.

Nice to Have

• Experience writing for tech, AI, SaaS, Tutorials or educational, channels specifically.
• Familiarity with YouTube retention graphs and using them to diagnose and fix pacing issues.
• Experience outlining or storyboarding alongside editors for visual pacing.
• Experience building a personal prompt library or “style prompt” for consistent AI-assisted writing.
