Responsible for configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Workday Financial Management modules to support core accounting and finance processes. Workday Financial Configuator
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Workday Financial Management functionality to support core accounting and finance processes in a complex, highly regulated environment. Partners with Finance, Accounting, HRIS, Supply Chain, and IT stakeholders (and, as applicable, Revenue Cycle and operational leaders) to translate business requirements into scalable Workday configurations, ensure data integrity, support testing and deployments, and drive continuous improvement across end-to-end finance processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Configure and support Workday Financial Management modules (e.g., General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Asset Management, Banking/Settlement, Procurement, Projects, Reporting) based on organizational needs.
- Gather and document business requirements; translate them into Workday configuration designs, including security impacts and downstream integrations/reporting considerations.
- Maintain foundational and transactional configuration: business processes, organizations, supplier/customer setup, worktags, accounting rules, posting rules, ledger setup, fiscal calendars, and approvals.
- Support healthcare operational finance needs through accurate use of worktags and reporting (e.g., cost centers/departments, facilities/locations, service lines, funds, and projects), partnering with Finance to maintain consistent master data and governance.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain/Procurement stakeholders to support purchasing and accounts payable processes, including approvals, supplier enablement, 3-way match (as applicable), and spend reporting.
- Partner with integration teams to support interfaces relevant to healthcare (e.g., banking/payment files, purchasing systems, inventory, payroll/benefits, and—where applicable—patient billing/revenue-related feeds), assisting with mapping, reconciliation, and issue resolution.
- Configure and maintain security roles, domain/business process security, and segregation-of-duties (SoD) controls in partnership with Security, Compliance, and Audit teams.
- Support and execute Workday releases and internal deployments: impact assessment, configuration updates, regression testing coordination, and production migration.
- Create and maintain reports and dashboards using Workday reporting tools (custom reports, composite reports, matrix reports, calculated fields, dashboards); support financial statement reporting and operational analytics.
- Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for configuration, process, and data issues; partner with functional owners to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including configuration workbooks, process flows, test scripts, and operating procedures; contribute to knowledge transfer and cross-training within the team.
- Support month-end/quarter-end/year-end activities by ensuring configuration readiness, monitoring exceptions, and assisting with reconciliations and audit requests.
- Train and enable end users and finance partners on new features, process changes, and reporting capabilities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to standardize processes, reduce manual work, and improve control effectiveness within Workday.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 2–5 years of hands-on Workday Financial Management configuration experience (implementation and/or post-production support).
- Experience gathering requirements and delivering configuration solutions across multiple finance workstreams (e.g., GL, AP, Assets, Procurement, Projects).
- Working knowledge of accounting concepts (chart of accounts, journal entries, accruals, intercompany, financial statements) and internal controls.
- Strong experience with Workday reporting (calculated fields, custom reports) and data validation/reconciliation.
- Experience supporting testing cycles (unit, SIT, UAT), including creation of test scripts and defect triage.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders; strong documentation skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Healthcare industry experience (provider, payer, or health system), including familiarity with healthcare financial operations and reporting needs.
- Workday Pro certification(s) and/or Workday Financial Management certification(s).
- Experience delivering at least one Workday Financials implementation, major enhancement, or optimization program.
- Experience partnering on integrations using EIB, Core Connectors, and/or third-party integration platforms (as a functional partner).
- Experience with Workday Prism Analytics, Accounting Center, Projects, or Adaptive Planning.
- SOX/compliance, audit support, and segregation-of-duties design experience in a regulated environment.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with data transformation/analysis techniques.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- This position is primarily office-based/remote (as applicable) and requires prolonged periods of computer use. Occasional after-hours availability may be required to support Workday releases, critical issue resolution, and planned deployments.
