Job Purpose

The Vice President, Transformation Services - Patient Access is responsible for leading enterprise-wide Patient Access transformation initiatives for health system clients. The Vice President, Transformation Services - Patient Access partners with client stakeholders to assess current state operations, identify opportunities to improve financial performance, patient experience, and operational efficiency, and deliver sustainable transformation across all Patient Access functions.

 

The Vice President, Transformation Services - Patient Access serves as a strategic advisor and transformation leader, driving measurable improvements in revenue yield, cash acceleration, denials prevention, labor optimization, and patient satisfaction through people, process, technology, automation, and analytics.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Lead enterprise-wide Patient Access transformation engagements for health system clients, serving as the leader from assessment through sustained performance improvement
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing, diverse team, fostering a culture of continuous development and accountability that aligns with long-term organizational goals
  • Develop and execute strategic transformation roadmaps that improve revenue yield, cash acceleration, operational efficiency, and patient financial experience
  • Partner with internal and hospital leadership to identify and prioritize performance improvement opportunities for improved patient engagement
  • Conduct operational assessments to identify opportunities across scheduling, registration, financial clearance, authorization, eligibility, patient financial services, and digital access
  • Design and implement best-practice operating models that improve quality, productivity, standardization, and scalability
  • Drive front-end revenue integrity initiatives that reduce preventable denials, improve clean claim rates, and strengthen reimbursement performance
  • Lead initiatives to improve prior authorization, insurance verification, medical necessity compliance, financial counseling, point-of-service collections, and financial assistance workflows
  • Utilize analytics and benchmarking to identify performance gaps, quantify financial opportunity, and prioritize transformation initiatives
  • Quantify and communicate business value through measurable improvements in revenue yield, cash acceleration, cost-to-collect, labor productivity, and patient satisfaction
  • Influence organizational change by partnering with operational leaders to implement new processes, performance expectations, and accountability structures
  • Stay current on healthcare regulatory requirements, reimbursement trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices to continuously enhance client solutions
  • Establish standardized transformation methodologies, playbooks, and best practices that can be leveraged across multiple client engagements
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Use, protect and disclose patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
  • Understand and comply with Information Security and HIPAA policies and procedures at all times
  • Limit viewing of PHI to the absolute minimum as necessary to perform assigned duties

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • 10+ years’ experience in a leadership role within revenue cycle services, preferably in a healthcare hospital-based healthcare setting
  • Strong understanding of revenue cycle management principles and practices, with a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality services to clients
  • knowledge of state and federal governmental, legal, and regulatory provisions related to front-end, middle and backend revenue cycle operations
  • Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop a high-performing team
  • Proficiency in revenue cycle management systems, electronic health records (EHR), and client management tools
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results oriented 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

 

Working Conditions

 

  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Must possess a smart-phone or electronic device capable of downloading applications, for multifactor authentication and security purposes
  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to move around the work area; Sit; perform manual tasks; operate tools and other office equipment such as computer, computer peripherals and telephones; extend arms; kneel; talk and hear
  • Mental Demands: The employee must be able to follow directions, collaborate with others, and handle stress
  • Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal
