The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
The URMFG Program Manager is a leader within a cross-functional team where teamwork, collaboration, balancing competing priorities, and continuous learning are the norm.
Primary goals of the position are to:
• Provide oversight for multiple, simultaneous projects to achieve business goals
• Interface between team and governance groups to communicate executive-level program and project information for planning, budgeting, metrics, and process improvement
• Direct team on the application of appropriate project methodologies (e.g., waterfall, agile) to different project scenarios based on objectives, delivery timeframes, and project team composition
• Coach, mentor, and manage a team on methodologies and techniques used in project management
• Collaborate with the ISD Project Portfolio Office to continuously improve the tools and methodologies used in URMC program and project management
• Track, report, recommend, and implement recommendations needed to improve upon project metrics within the assigned functional area
• Coordinate across related projects to develop and distribute program status communications to include milestones, deliverables, budget, risks, and issues
• Establish and maintain strong partnerships with operational leaders and ISD leaders for ongoing communication and collaboration
Position works under the direction of the VP and COO of URMFG. Position works in collaboration with ISD team leads, application build teams, and clinical, financial, operational, and research stakeholders.
Responsibilities include oversight of several related projects and coaching, mentoring, and management of team members. Program oversight may include, but is not limited to, projects involving clinical applications, vendor selection, tools and platform implementation, infrastructure upgrades, and operational change initiatives.
Follows and contributes to the development and improvement of guidelines, standards, and conventions for project management and business requirements documentation. Position involves successfully completing training and may include achieving (and maintaining) certifications related to project management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT:
- Maintains project portfolio summary for URMFG Central teams and acts as liaison to Project Portfolio Office for project management activities.
- Manages related projects as a program, providing oversight and initial escalation point for project managers and stakeholders.
- Coaches and mentors team members on appropriate use of various project management methodologies.
- Coordinates with Finance on appropriate classification of work, vendor contracts and invoices, budget tracking, and capital program reporting.
PROGRAM AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
- Provides senior level project management skills as needed for select projects to supplement project management team capacity.
- Facilitates project and team meetings using effective meeting techniques for objectives, agendas, participants, and meeting minutes.
- Coaches and maintains a positive influence on project team members for accountability and action at all times.
- Manages all phases of assigned tasks/projects, meets established deadlines, and maintains flexibility and professionalism while managing multiple priorities.
KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT:
- Creates, consolidates, and maintains project methodology tools and templates for the project management team. Adds content specific to URMFG Central policies as needed to assist in scope, risk, and issue management.
- Assists junior project managers in orienting team members to project tools and templates.
- Conducts regular training and knowledge-sharing sessions with project managers and other team members related to project work.
CONSULTING:
- Keeps current with business and strategic goals.
- Understands other University service providers.
- Stays apprised of team’s roles, processes, tools, and architecture to better understand how the team works together to meet users' needs.
- Attends webinars, reads case studies and white papers, and participates in other free or low-cost opportunities to further refine skills and stay apprised on healthcare, project management, and program management topics.
- Communicates and educates at the user’s level, in the context of the user’s business environment.
- Builds and maintains internal departmental relationships.
- Coaches and maintains a positive influence on project team members for accountability and action at all times.
- Meets established deadlines and motivates project team members to do the same.
- Maintains flexibility and professionalism while managing competing priorities.
GENERAL:
- Participates effectively as a "Team Member".
- Makes presentations to URMFG staff on work-related issues.
- Serves on committees and attends meetings as requested.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Engineering required
- Master’s degree in Healthcare Management/Administration, IT Management, Business, Statistics, Analytics, or Informatics preferred
- 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- 8 years’ experience in project management, preferably in healthcare preferred
- 2-3 years in a supervisory capacity preferred
- 3-5 years program management experience or related experience managing or mentoring other project managers preferred
- Highly organized with proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize workload, and manage resources and time effectively preferred
- Extensive computer literacy to include expertise in Microsoft Project, Teams and Powerpoint. ServiceNow experience a plus preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal), presentation, analytical and problem solving skills preferred
- Exhibits managerial courage. Willing to take calculated risks and to speak up for the best interests of the project team preferred.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Project Management Professional (PMP) and Agile certification (ACP, DA, or CSM) preferred
