A Traffic Operations Center (TOC) and Traffic Management Center (TMC) Operator execute a critical role for monitoring real-time traffic conditions, managing incidents, and communicating roadway information to the public and emergency responders.

Their core responsibilities of a TOC/TMC Operator are the following:

* Surveillance & Monitoring: Using Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras, roadway sensors, and other applications/software to detect accidents, congestion, or debris.

* Incident Management: Coordinate responses to traffic events by dispatching Road

* Public Information: Activate and update Road Signs to alert motorists of lane closures and fare/toll changes.

* System Oversight: Monitor the functionality of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) field devices (cameras, sensors) and report failures for maintenance.

Key Qualifications are possession of a High Scholl Diploma / GED, 1-3 Years in dispatching, call center, or traffic management experience preferred but not required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Typing at a minimum of 20wpm, possesses the ability to remain calm under pressure, adapt in a rapidly changing environment with the potential to learn from the on-the-job experiences.

The TOC/TMC environment is one that operates 24/7, 365-days a year, which requires TOC/TMC Operators to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. TOC/TMC Operators must sit at a workstation for extended periods and may be exposed to distressing visual images of highway crashes/incidents.
