Our Software Team plays a pivotal role in developing innovative connected vehicle cloud and SaaS solutions for our Automotive, Government, and Enterprise customers. At the core of our work is e.things, a secure and scalable multi-tenant cloud platform that aggregates and harmonises connected vehicle data under a common storage model. Leveraging e.things, the team develops market-leading web portals, analytics, and AI-driven solutions, transforming raw data into actionable intelligence that enhances safety, efficiency, and new revenue opportunities. Role objective
The Test Automation Engineer is responsible for ensuring the high quality and reliability of Directed Technologies’ software products. This includes designing, implementing and automating test cases; executing multiple levels of testing; and working with developers to ensure defects are resolved efficiently.
You will play a critical role in identifying bugs and inconsistencies early, helping teams deliver robust and production-ready features while contributing to continuous improvements in the test process.
Key responsibilities & success factors
Responsibilities of the Test Automation Engineer will include but are not limited to:
Analyse user stories and requirements for validity and feasibility
Collaborate closely with developers, designers, and business analysts
Design and execute functional, regression, and user acceptance testing
Design and develop automated test scripts where applicable
Conduct pre- and post-release testing activities
Detect and track software defects and inconsistencies
Apply quality engineering principles throughout the Agile product life cycle
Ensure that defects are clearly documented, communicated, and retested
Provide support, documentation, and knowledge sharing for QA processes

Reviewing feature tickets and writing corresponding test cases
Running functional and regression tests for ongoing sprints
Reporting bugs and collaborating with developers on resolutions
Updating automated test suites

Participating in daily stand-ups and sprint planning ceremonies
Executing regression, system, test and UAT suites for product releases
Cooperating with developers for exploratory testing
Enhancing test scripts and reviewing QA documentation

Reviewing and refining test plans and strategies
Evaluating and integrating new test tools or frameworks
Preparing release testing documentation
Conducting defect triage and root cause analysis meetings

Leading retrospectives on QA effectiveness
Driving improvements in test automation coverage
Contributing to long-term quality strategy
Participating in cross-team initiatives to enhance system reliability
Skills, interests, and experience required to succeed.
A successful Test Automation Engineer will have:
Experience
3+ years in software testing or software development
Strong understanding of testing methodologies and QA best practices
Experience with test automation and scripting
Working knowledge of Agile and iterative development processes
Technical Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (appreciated but not mandatory)
Certifications in Information Systems and/or Testing methodologies would be highly regarded
Strong English communication skills (written and spoken)
Familiarity with Selenium, Postman, GitLab, Docker, and cloud-based testing
Experience with distributed systems and cloud architecture is advantageous
