We're expanding our Sales/Marketing team and hiring a Territory Development Manager (TDM) to own and grow defined U.S. territories aligned heavily with time zones. This is a chance to build an agent/broker pipeline, shape relationships, and grow alongside the business.

Position Summary

The Territory Development Manager (TDM) is a revenue‑focused growth role responsible for building, developing, and expanding a defined geographic territory within the specialty insurance ecosystem.

As a high‑growth Managing General Underwriter (MGU), we operate with a startup mindset - meaning this role requires ownership, initiative, and accountability. The TDM is not a passive agency manager; this role blends outbound business development, inbound opportunity management, broker engagement, and pipeline creation.

The TDM is expected to proactively generate opportunity, deepen distribution relationships, and contribute directly to company growth through disciplined territory execution.

Core Responsibilities

Territory & Growth Ownership

  • Actively build a sales pipeline in a defined geographic territory
  • Develop and execute a territory growth plan aligned with company objectives
  • Identify high‑potential brokers, agencies, and partners within the region
  • Expand distribution through targeted outbound prospecting (≈65% outbound activity)

Opportunity & Pipeline Development

  • Manage existing relationships and convert them into qualified opportunities (≈35%)
  • Conduct structured discovery conversations to assess fit, appetite, and growth potential
  • Advance opportunities through the pipeline in partnership with underwriting and leadership
  • Maintain accurate, timely CRM and pipeline reporting

Broker & Partner Engagement

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with retail agencies and brokers
  • Deliver virtual meetings, calls, and presentations via phone and Zoom
  • Represent the company at select in‑person meetings, trade shows, and industry events
  • Conduct periodic new producer training sessions
  • Serve as a market feedback loop, sharing insights on competition, trends, and coverage needs

Performance & Reporting

  • Track and report on growth metrics tied to quarterly bonus objectives
  • Provide regular updates on territory performance, pipeline health, and blockers
  • Identify production barriers and proactively work with internal teams to resolve them

  • A consistent, growing pipeline of qualified producer relationships
  • Strong producer engagement and repeat opportunity flow
  • Measurable contribution to territory growth metrics
  • Increasing strategic responsibility as the territory matures
  • Clear readiness for advancement as the organization scales

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in account development, business development, insurance, or a revenue‑adjacent role
  • Comfort with outbound prospecting and proactive relationship building
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (phone, Zoom, email)
  • Ability to operate independently in a remote, startup environment
  • Organized, disciplined, and metrics‑oriented
  • Ability and willingness to travel within assigned territory

Preferred (Not Required):

  • Experience with MGAs, MGUs, carriers, or retail agencies
  • Familiarity with construction and or specialty insurance products
  • Startup or high‑growth company experience

Applicants must reside in one of the following states: TX, OK, KS, NE, SD, ND, IN, MN, IA, MI, MO, OH, AR, LA, WI, IL, KY

This is a high‑impact territory with a large construction footprint, deep broker networks, and strong long‑term growth potential.
