The instructor will teach Swedish language and culture courses for the Less-Commonly-Taught-Languages Center. This role involves delivering high-quality instruction to students during the Fall 2026 semester.
Temporary Part-time LANGUAGE Instructor OF Swedish
The Less-Commonly-Taught-Languages Center in the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Linguistics seeks a non-tenure-stream Part-Time Instructor of Swedish to temporarily cover courses for that language and culture during the Fall semester 2026. This temporary appointment will begin on November 2, 2026 and extend to the end of the fall semester, December 16, 2026.
Essential Qualifications Requirements:
• A master’s degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Swedish Language Pedagogy, Linguistics, Foreign Language Pedagogy, or a related field;
• Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching as well as advanced or superior level proficiency in Swedish (speaking/listening and reading/writing) and a strong command of English;
• The applicant does not have to live in Pittsburgh, as remote teaching is an option.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Four (4) years of experience in teaching Swedish at the college level;
· A doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Swedish Language Pedagogy, Linguistics, Foreign Language Pedagogy, or a related field
