Recommended commitment is 4 hours per week, typically split across two 2-hour shifts. Additional hours may be available depending on operational needs.

The Program

 

Telecross

Telecross provides daily wellbeing calls to people who may be vulnerable due to age, health concerns, disability or social isolation. Telecross supports vulnerable people during extreme weather events and emergencies, helping them stay informed, prepared and connected.

 

The Opportunity 

 

We are looking for compassionate and reliable volunteers who are passionate about supporting older Australians and vulnerable members of the community.

As a Telecross Volunteer, you will make scheduled wellbeing calls, provide social connection, accurately record outcomes and work collaboratively with the Operations Team using Microsoft Teams and Dynamics 365. Comprehensive training and ongoing support are provided.

 

Key Requirements & Your Commitment:

 

  • Be willing to join a nationwide team delivering support programs within Aged and Community Care.
  • Make friendly and supportive wellbeing calls to participants.
  • Provide meaningful social connection through regular conversations.
  • Accurately record call outcomes and participant information using approved systems.
  • Use Microsoft Teams and Dynamics 365 to complete volunteer duties.
  • Follow privacy, safeguarding and escalation procedures.
  • Possess strong communication and active listening skills.
  • Be comfortable working independently within a structured environment.
  • Respect the privacy, rights and dignity of clients and maintain confidentiality of all information obtained during service delivery.
  • Maintain clear professional relationships and boundaries.
  • Participate in mandatory learning and development activities.
  • Commit to upholding Red Cross policies and the Aged Care Code of Conduct.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and provide inclusive support to people from diverse backgrounds

Application requirements: 

 

  • You must be an Australian citizen or have working rights in Australia.
  • Access to your own computer or laptop.
  • Reliable internet connection and headset or headphones.
  • All volunteers will be required to undertake a National Police Check, which will be organised through Red Cross.
  • Willingness to comply with Red Cross and Aged Care Codes of Conduct.
  • Statutory Declaration to be completed if you have been a citizen or permanent resident of a country other than Australia after turning 16 years of age.
