Technical Project Manager – GPU & AI Infrastructure

About Civo:

Civo is revolutionising the cloud industry by providing developers and businesses with cutting-edge, developer-friendly cloud solutions. With a focus on simplicity, performance, and reliability, Civo enables its clients to unleash the full potential of their projects and scale with ease. As a company committed to excellence and innovation, Civo values diversity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

About the Role:

As a Technical Project Manager – Customer AI Infrastructure Deployments, you will be the primary customer-facing operational leader responsible for the end-to-end delivery of enterprise GPU clusters. You will own the entire lifecycle of a customer deployment—from the moment a contract is signed through to procurement, physical build-out, technical validation, and the final hand-off to the customer at the contracted Ready-For-Service (RFS) date.

This is a highly visible, cross-functional role requiring strict project governance. You will act as the central point of coordination between Civo’s enterprise customers, internal procurement, network engineering, platform SREs, hardware OEMs (e.g., NVIDIA, Supermicro), and third-party Data Center (DC) operators. You must manage complex supply chain logistics, mitigate live environment risks, and ensure that massive GPU capacity is delivered on time, to specification, and seamlessly handed over for customer "go-live."

Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement & Delivery Ownership

  • End-to-End Customer Delivery: Own the successful delivery of dedicated GPU compute clusters to enterprise clients, acting as the primary customer-facing project lead post-sale.

  • RFS Accountability: Ensure all deployments meet strict, contracted Ready-For-Service (RFS) dates and final "go-live" milestones.

  • Customer Communication: Lead regular cadence meetings with internal & customer stakeholders, providing transparent deployment status reports, risk logs, and timeline updates.

Supply Chain & Vendor Management

  • Procurement & Logistics: Project manage the entire hardware supply chain lifecycle, from initial BOM approval and procurement to staging and final site delivery.

  • Supplier & OEM Coordination: Direct day-to-day coordination with server OEMs, networking vendors, and logistics partners to manage equipment lead times and resolve supply chain bottlenecks.

Data Center Build-Out & Integration

  • DC Operator Management: Coordinate directly with third-party Data Center operators and facility engineers on physical readiness, including space, power provisioning (PDUs), rack layout, and liquid cooling (CDU) integration.

  • Physical Deployment: Oversee the smart-hands and field engineering teams during the physical racking, stacking, and high-speed fiber cabling (InfiniBand/RoCE) of GPU chassis.

Testing, Validation & Go-Live

  • Test Phase Orchestration: Coordinate with Civo Network and Platform SRE teams to execute rigorous pre-flight checks, burn-in testing, and NCCL performance benchmarks prior to customer handover.

  • Issue Resolution: Proactively identify technical blockers, thermal/power constraints, or cabling mismatches during the deploy-and-test phase and drive immediate cross-functional resolutions.

  • Change Control: Coordinate scheduled infrastructure changes within live DC environments, maintaining strict risk logs and backout plans to ensure safety and stability.

Key Results/Objectives:

  • On-Time Delivery: Achieve 100% on-time delivery of customer GPU clusters against contracted RFS dates.

  • Customer Satisfaction: Maintain high customer satisfaction scores during the onboarding and deployment phase through transparent communication and flawless execution.

  • Deployment Accuracy: Achieve zero customer-impacting deployment delays caused by physical setup errors, cabling, or failed technical validations.

Requirements:

Experience & Core Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical project management experience leading complex IT infrastructure, high-performance computing (HPC), or large-scale data center deployment projects.

  • Proven track record in a highly customer-facing role, managing enterprise client expectations and delivering against strict contractual deadlines.

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-vendor supply chains and coordinating directly with hardware OEMs and DC operators.

Technical Expertise

  • Data Center Physical Layer: Practical knowledge of data center operations, including rack power allocation, airflow management, liquid cooling setups, and fiber optic cabling protocols.

  • Hardware & Infrastructure: Familiarity with high-density server hardware (GPU chassis, PCIe devices) and high-speed network topologies (InfiniBand/Ethernet switches).

  • Project Tooling: Advanced proficiency with Jira, Confluence, Gantt/roadmap tools, and risk log management frameworks.

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to maintain clarity, momentum, and confidence during complex physical deployments.

  • Solution-oriented, proactive mindset capable of resolving supply chain bottlenecks or data center facility constraints under tight deadlines.

Nice to Have:

  • Project management certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum Master).

  • Technical understanding of NVIDIA GPU server topologies (HGX, DGX, NVLink racks).

  • Familiarity with DCIM tooling and hardware inventory practices.

Why Join Civo?

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.

  • 4-day work week company (unless attending an event).

  • Uncapped holiday.

  • Remote work environment with flexibility and autonomy.

  • Collaborative and inclusive culture that values diversity and creativity.

  • Opportunity to work with a dynamic and innovative team in the fast-growing cloud industry.
