We also have physical offices in San Francisco, New York City, Mumbai and Bangalore for employees who prefer to work in an office some or all of the time.
Juniper Square is growing rapidly, and our data needs are growing even faster, so we’re
growing our Data Engineering Team. As a Senior Data Engineer your role will be pivotal to
evolving our existing data and reporting experiences. You’ll build out pipelines to gather data
from multiple sources and make it available for analysis. You will shape both internal and
external analytics products to help guide business-critical decisions, enhance their workflows,
and improve decision-making.
1. Design and implement sophisticated data models in SQL.
2. Work closely with the other Software Engineers to ensure sound, scalable implementation.
3. Act as a technical expert on our team regarding all things data, especially as the data
team grows and evolves.
4. Introduce new technologies to evolve and enhance our data pipeline capabilities.
5. Document data models, architectural decisions and data dictionaries to enable
collaboration, maintainability and usability of our analytics platforms and code.
6. Assist with governance, guidance, code reviews, and access controls so that we
maintain consistency, quality, and business confidentiality as we scale analytics
access across the company and to customers.
7. Externally: learn our application data schema, and develop a fluency in how to
transform it to enhance customer’s decision-making with data.
8. Internally: guide product and development teams, advising on instrumentation and
laying development foundations for product usage reporting.
9. Fullfill projects with minimal guidance but with an appropriate sense of when and how
to collaborate with others.
10. Build scalable, highly performant infrastructure for delivering clear business insights
from a variety of raw data sources.
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
7-11 years of experience building ETL (Extraction Transform Load) or ELT
(Extraction Load Transform) pipelines from scratch
2. Strong command of relational databases (Postgresql preferred), data modeling and
database design
3. Strong command of Python and experience building production web applications
using Python
4. Experience with cloud based services (AWS RDS preferred)
5. Experience developing on (or administering) BI / data visualization platforms (ex.
Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, Mode, Data Studio, Domo, QlikView etc.).
6. Basic understanding of data warehouses such as Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery,
Snowflake etc.
7. Demonstrated history of translating data into clear and actionable narratives and
communicating opportunities and challenges relevant to stakeholders.
8. You must be flexible and adaptable – you will be operating in a fast-paced startup
environment.
9. Familiarity with data catalog or data governance platforms – open source (e.g.
OpenMetadata) or commercial.
10. Experience building backend services using Python/FastAPI and designing and
implementing scalable RESTful and GraphQL APIs
11. Mandatory Experience authoring modern web applications using ReactJS and TypeScript and designing reusable UI components and scalable frontend architecture.
12. Familiarity with patterns such as tool-calling agents, planning/execution loops, and RAG
13. Demonstrated ability to use modern AI tools to improv velocity and code quality
