Technical Lead - Angular & Python Product Engineering

Time-zone expectation : South San Francisco/PST 

Position Overview:

Zifo is searching for a technical lead for angular & python product engineering. This role will serve as a hands-on technical leader for a cross-functional product engineering pod. They will own technical delivery across Angular, Python APIs and cloud-native services; translate product and architecture direction into maintainable software; guide engineers while remaining directly involved in design, critical implementation, code review, testing and production troubleshooting.

Key responsibilities:

1. Hands-on pod leadership: Lead day-to-day technical delivery and remain active in solution design, complex implementation, code reviews, debugging, release readiness and production support
2. Technical translation: Convert product requirements and architecture direction into bounded designs, service contracts, development tasks and testable vertical slices; identify dependencies and risks early
3. Engineering leadership: Set practical standards for component and service boundaries, security, performance, observability, testing and maintainability; mentor engineers, provide actionable feedback and drive technical decisions
4. Product delivery ownership: Work closely with Product, BA, QA and DevSecOps, demonstrate working results early, manage technical debt and delivery risk, and support reliable PST overlap with distributed teams

Requirements

Key Technical Expectations

1. Angular: Strong recent hands-on Angular 17+ and TypeScript, with readiness to work in Angular 19.x. Required depth includes standalone components, RxJS/signals, state/change detection, typed Reactive Forms with conditional and asynchronous validation, Material/CDK, reusable components, accessibility, performance and frontend testing. React-only or AngularJS-only experience is insufficient
2. Real-time and collaborative UI: WebSockets, REST-backed durable changes, optimistic concurrency/version checks, reconnect and stale-state recovery, conflict presentation, notifications and safe undo behaviour for multi-user workflows
3. Python services and APIs: Strong production experience with Python and FastAPI or a comparable framework, including Pydantic-style contracts, SQLAlchemy/ORM, REST design, authentication and validation. Must understand asynchronous execution, long-running jobs, progress events, retries, idempotency, cancellation and failure recovery
4. Data, cloud and operations: Relational data modelling and SQL/PostgreSQL, versioning and audit patterns, AWS, containers/EKS or Kubernetes, S3, CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code. Able to troubleshoot across frontend, API, data and deployment layers
5. Engineering quality: Unit, integration, contract and end-to-end tests; code review and safe refactoring; SonarQube/static-analysis quality gates; secure dependency management; application logs, metrics and traces

Domain Experience

1. Life sciences or clinical technology: Clinical-development, clinical-trial, protocol-authoring, protocol-digitization or other regulated scientific product experience is advantageous but not mandatory
2. Study-design concepts and standards: Exposure to objectives/endpoints, arms and cohorts, eligibility criteria, Schedule of Activities, study schemas, amendments, CDISC, USDM, CDASH or ODM is preferred
3. Regulated delivery: Awareness of GxP/CSV, ALCOA+, audit trails, electronic records, requirements/test traceability and validated-state change control is beneficial
