Technical Engineering Manager – DevOps & Cloud
Overview
We are seeking a Technical Engineering Manager – DevOps & Cloud to lead high-performing engineering teams while driving modern cloud, platform, automation, and operational excellence initiatives for our clients.
This role combines technical leadership, people management, client engagement, and delivery ownership. The ideal candidate has a strong background in DevOps and Cloud Engineering, remains actively involved in technical decision-making, and can successfully lead multidisciplinary teams delivering scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions.
You will partner with technical leads, cloud engineers, DevOps engineers, architects, business stakeholders, and clients to ensure successful delivery while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical leadership across cloud, DevOps, platform engineering, and infrastructure initiatives.
- Guide architecture and design decisions for cloud-native and distributed systems.
- Drive best practices in CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, observability, security, and reliability.
- Participate in architecture reviews, technical assessments, design discussions, and proof-of-concepts.
- Support technical leads in resolving complex engineering challenges and identifying scalable solutions.
- Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, DevOps practices, and industry trends.
Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams consisting of DevOps Engineers, Cloud Engineers, Automation Engineers, Technical Leads, and other engineering professionals.
- Coach and develop technical leaders, supporting career growth and succession planning.
- Manage performance reviews, feedback cycles, promotions, and professional development plans.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture.
- Address team challenges, conflicts, and performance concerns effectively.
Delivery Ownership
- Own delivery outcomes across one or multiple client engagements.
- Ensure successful execution of projects, managed services, and time-and-materials engagements.
- Oversee scope, timelines, quality, release management, operational readiness, and post-production support.
- Monitor and improve engineering delivery metrics, including DORA metrics, cycle time, throughput, reliability, and operational performance.
- Proactively identify and manage risks, dependencies, blockers, and escalation paths.
Client-Facing Leadership
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor and primary technical point of contact for clients.
- Lead technical reviews, architecture discussions, operational reviews, and executive presentations.
- Communicate delivery status, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to both technical and business stakeholders.
- Support solutioning activities, estimates, Statements of Work (SOWs), proposals, and growth opportunities.
Operational & Financial Awareness
- Support resource planning, staffing, utilization, and forecasting activities.
- Balance technical excellence with delivery commitments and business objectives.
- Contribute to the financial health and operational success of client engagements.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams and technical leaders.
- Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience supporting cloud-native architectures, microservices, event-driven systems, and modern application platforms.
- Proven experience managing delivery across multiple teams or workstreams.
- Strong client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience reviewing technical solutions and guiding architecture decisions.
- Professional-level English communication skills (B2+/C1).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading teams of approximately 15–20 engineers across multiple squads.
- Experience in consulting or client-services environments.
- Knowledge of FinOps, cloud cost optimization, and platform engineering practices.
- Experience with DevSecOps, security automation, and compliance frameworks.
- Relevant cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience with engineering metrics and operational excellence frameworks.
