Job DetailsLevel: ManagementJob Location: Remote or Lakewood CO - Lakewood, CO 80215Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: 4 Year DegreeSalary Range: $100,000.00 - $160,000.00 Salary/yearTravel Percentage: Minimal: 0 - 10%Job Shift: DayJob Category: Engineering Team Lead - Power System Studies (Utilities) About the Position  Join NEI's growing System Studies team and help shape the future of power system engineering.  As the Power System Studies Team Lead, you'll combine technical excellence with people leadership guiding a team of talented engineers delivering complex studies for utilities and renewable energy clients across North America. You'll play a key role in establishing technical standards, mentoring engineers, improving workflows, and helping expand one of NEI's fastest-growing technical practices.  This role is ideal for an experienced power systems engineer who enjoys solving technically challenging problems while developing the next generation of engineering talent.  Salary Range: $100,000 - $160,000 / year  The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.   This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.  Essential Responsibilities  Performs and manages the detailed electrical studies primarily for utility clients in support of substation designs projects  Provides coaching and mentorship for their team members, ensuring that team members are developing professionally and that their career goals are being met  Conduct review and QA/QC for electrical studies in support of design teams  Provide regulatory compliance services for all project design phases from conceptual design through project testing and commission  Establish study templates, methodologies, and best practices for electrical system studies   Serve as SME’s for study software related questions and troubleshooting  Secondary responsibilities may include checking and/or performing detailed design of all aspects of electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, conduit, and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, writing of equipment specifications, project and construction cost estimates, and project scheduling  Prepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including proposals cost estimates, and budget reports  Assists with Client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and meetings  May occasionally assist with performing equipment, control system, communications, troubleshooting, and relay field testing and start-up and commissioning services  Maintains a strong understanding and applications of applicable Codes and Standards  Maintains strong and responsive Company-Client relationships  Maintains high ethical and professional standards  Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and  graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of  work.  Attends safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines  Other job-related responsibilities as assigned  What You'll Have the Opportunity to Do  Shape the future direction of NEI's growing System Studies practice   Influence technical standards across the organization   Mentor and develop high-performing engineers   Work on challenging transmission, distribution, renewable, and utility projects   Collaborate with nationally recognized subject matter experts   Help drive innovation in power system analysis methodologies  Must Have  Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred  Experience: 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experience   Licensure: FE is required, PE is preferred  Knowledge and familiarity with medium and low voltage distribution, switchgear, motor control centers, and industrial instrumentation and controls  Experience with one or more industry-standard power system analysis software packages such as:   Steady State software: (PowerFactory; ETAP; SKM Power Tools; Easypower; Aspen; Windmil)  System Protection & Arc Flash software: (CAPE, Aspen, ETAP; Power Factory; SKM Power Tools; Easy Power)   Grounding software: (CDEGS; WinIGS)  Interconnection & Dynamic Modeling: (PSSe, PSLF)  Cable Ampacity software: (Cymcap)   Transient Studies software: (PSCAD)  Possesses effective written and oral communications skill  Good interpersonal and people skills  Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis  Working Conditions  Work Environment:  Work is performed in an office setting and some field work may be required  Travel:  Typical: 15 – 25%  Physical Activities:  Must be able to lift 25lbs.   About NEI Electric Power Engineering  Serving Others.
