We are seeking an enthusiastic Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) to join the Regional Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing (RDPN) Leadership Team as a Teaching Assistant (TA).
As the Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in mentoring, supporting, and helping develop the next generation of Registered Psychiatric Nurses. Working closely with Didactic Faculty, you'll contribute to a collaborative, engaging, and student-centered learning environment while supporting high-quality educational delivery.
Although TAs support all semesters, for TAs supporting Semesters V - VIII, the role also includes facilitating the online RPN Licensing Exam Preparation Course in Semester VIII.
About the Program:
For the past 19 years, Stenberg College has been an industry leader in providing psychiatric nursing education in British Columbia.
The RDPN program is the only psychiatric nursing program in B.C. that is offered province-wide to 7 regions through a hybrid, blended delivery, 8-semester, 147-credit program. Students engage in synchronous and asynchronous learning through online theory courses, complete in-person lab simulation at one of our five regional lab spaces, and in-person clinical practice experiences that expose students to a variety of health status, across the life span, and with varying complexity.

Key Responsibilities
Student Support & Engagement
-
Track and document student attendance and engagement in online courses.

Monitor student progress and communicate concerns or trends to instructional staff.

Provide timely, consistent grading and constructive feedback on assignments and assessments.

Collaborate with instructors to identify and support students requiring additional academic assistance.
Instructional Collaboration
-
Meet with lead instructors prior to each semester to align roles, expectations, and weekly priorities.

Review grading rubrics, marking guides, and assessments to ensure consistency and fairness in evaluation.

Collaborate on learning activities and assignments, as appropriate.

Support instructional continuity throughout the semester.

Partner with instructors to post course welcome messages and assist with course facilitation.
Professional Responsibilities

Maintain confidentiality and uphold academic integrity.

Build collaborative relationships with leadership, faculty, curriculum development, and student services teams when supporting new courses.
Qualifications

Active Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the BCCNM

Minimum three years of current psychiatric nursing experience

Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing (BScPN)

Previous classroom or online teaching experience is considered a strong asset.

Experience using Moodle or a similar LMS is an asset.
