Tax Manager
What you will be doing:
As a member of the tax team, the Tax Manager will work with a diverse client base and the primary responsibilities include:
- Review tax returns for individuals, business, estates, trusts and research unusual tax matters.
- Perform complex tax research for clients
- Reviews and responds to IRS notices
- Assist business partners with other financial aspects of business, taxes, financial, strategy, etc.
Manages multiple clients, budgets and production goals
- Participate with business development efforts, including but not limited to, meeting with prospective clients, preparing fee quotes and proposals, and evaluating clients’ needs.
- Identify and communicate creative ideas to improve client service, and entrepreneurial spirit to expand services with clients
- Be involved with professional organizations, conventions & conferences
- Participation in educational/training workshops for clients
- Facilitates in-house training
- Authors a minimum of two update articles or blogs per year
- Business Development – Develop prospective contacts and relationships beneficial to the Firm and turn them into business opportunities.
- Punctually enters time and expenses to support efficient billing processes.
Participate in the firm recruiting program, developing a rapport with candidates.
- Identify and communicate creative ideas to improve client service, and entrepreneurial spirit to expand services with clients
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory position.
- Monitor and check staff performance levels, ensuring that work is carried out within set deadlines, budget, and quality standards.
- Responsible for the development, coaching and training of all levels of staff.
- Participates in reviews and evaluations of accounting professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Taxation, Finance or other business related field; Master's degree preferred
- Active California CPA license required
- Five (5) to seven (7+) years tax experience in public accounting, demonstrating a proven progression in complexity, scope, preparing tax returns
- Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams)
- Required: Proficiency in CCH Access, SurePrep, BNA Tax Planner and QBO
- Knowledge of Practice CS and PowerBi, preferred.
