Talent Communications-Assistant Director

The opportunity

The Talent Communications Assistant Director partners with EY business leaders to develop and execute strategic communications and engagement initiatives that inform, inspire and connect internal and external audiences. This role drives communications planning, content development, creative storytelling, brand awareness, employee engagement and event-related activities in support of key service lines, industry sectors, functional practices and geographic markets across the Americas. Leveraging firm-approved Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and innovative communication strategies, the Talent Communications Assistant Director delivers impactful, multi-channel communications, manages project timelines and resources, measures effectiveness, and collaborates closely with our communications leaders and senior stakeholders to advance business objectives.

Your key responsibilities

• Support and execute the EY Talent Communications strategy, collaborating with our communications leaders, Talent Communications team, and internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver strategic, targeted and impactful communications that advance business objectives.
• Identify content opportunities, engage with subject matter experts and draft and edit communications, securing appropriate reviews and approvals.
• Create strategic communications plans for our Talent function, coordinating closely with other communications teams to optimize messaging, timing and engagement.
• Oversee the execution and measurement of moderate- to large-scale strategic communications programs and initiatives across multiple Talent areas and audiences.
• Manage channels for the Talent function, including emails, newsletters, websites, the intranet and other communications channels.
• Responsibly leverage firm-approved AI tools to develop and execute deliverables, optimize workflow, enhance quality, inform decisions and anticipate issues.
• Apply communications knowledge and expertise to ensure consistent messaging across disciplines, including internal communications channels, external stakeholders and social media.
• Present complex ideas and anticipate potential challenges, using experience, insight and creativity to influence stakeholders to consider innovative solutions. Anticipate and communicate the implications of decisions and issues and present alternatives when obstacles and objections arise.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal project stakeholders and manage their expectations. As needed, develop relationships with journalists and media organizations.
• Create communications for EY leadership to inform, inspire and motivate internal and external audiences. Subject matter may range from market and industry insights for clients to Talent initiatives and people programs that strengthen firm culture and support public relations.
• Work independently on communications activities, liaising with Talent stakeholders and communications colleagues. Apply strong organizational and time management skills as well as attention to detail and quality to meet deadlines.

Skills and attributes for success

• Excellent written and oral communication skills (including presentations) as well as listening and interpretation skills.
• Proven ability to articulate complex subject matter in a straightforward, concise and easily digestible manner for broad audiences
• Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills, including the development of junior staff.
• Strong project management skills.
• Proficient in using AI tools for content creation and refinement and workflow automation.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and within area of communications activities. Review of work generally occurs at longer intervals.

To qualify you must have

• BA/BS degree required (4-year degree)
• A bachelor’s degree with a communications or related major, or equivalent experience.
• 5 plus years relevant experience

• We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business.  The base salary range for this job is: 
• • New York City, Boston, and Washington DC Metro Areas, Washington State, and Southern California offices – $120,000 to $204,000
  • Bay Area California offices – $125,000 to $212,500
  • All other offices locations in the US, including Sacramento – $100,000 to $187,000 
• Individual salaries within these ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.  In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
• Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
