About the team and the role:

eBay, Inc. seeks Strategy Development 4 in San Jose, CA 

What you will accomplish: 

Job Duties: Lead strategy and execution of initiatives to grow eBay’s U.S. Vehicles business, with a focus on scaling adoption of Caramel’s end-to-end vehicle transaction platform and implementing customer activation strategies for two-sided marketplace growth. Partner cross-functionally with product, analytics, marketing, customer service, and other teams to drive progress against milestones for strategic initiatives in the US Vehicles C2C ecosystem, including integration and scaling of Caramel’s checkout. Conduct rigorous market research and use customer insights data and financial modeling to guide business expansion, leveraging advanced data analytics and consulting expertise. Build and own executive-ready presentations and communications on strategy, operational updates, and performance metrics, synthesizing complex data into compelling narratives that highlight key drivers and enable effective decision-making. Manage ongoing business cadences, including business performance reviews, initiative deep dives, and progress tracking, to maintain discipline and excellence in operations. Establish operational processes, guardrails, and consistency across the business to support scalable growth in C2C activation, including pilot launches and product-market fit enhancements. Serve as a strategic thought partner to leadership, identifying new opportunities across the vehicles and mobility landscape, including partnerships, product innovation, and market entry strategies. Telecommuting permitted – work can be performed from anywhere in the U.S.

What you will bring:

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements: 

  • Analytical expertise (2 years): Experience developing financial models to project Gross Merchandise Value (GMV), revenue growth, and operating income for both mature and emerging businesses. Experience designing frameworks to evaluate and prioritize cost-saving initiatives while aligning growth targets with operational scalability. Experience in scenario modeling, leveraging SQL, Tableau, and Excel/PowerPoint, to optimize margin expansion and long-term profitability.
  • Strategic leadership & market research (2 years): Experience shaping corporate and marketplace strategies through structured problem solving, executive advisory, and cross-functional alignment. Experience designing go-to-market strategies and growth frameworks across industries. Experience in market research and competitive analysis to validate multi-billion-dollar opportunities and inform decision-making.
  • Innovation & marketplace activation (2 years): Experience launching and scaling digital platforms and two-sided marketplaces, driving adoption through tailored activation strategies and high-impact partnerships.
  • Global business & cross-border experience (2 years): Experience advising multinational corporations, with deep expertise in business growth and financial optimization.
  • Project & program leadership (2 years): Experience leading complex projects and cross-functional programs, driving alignment among global teams. Experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and performance tracking using tools such as Tableau dashboards.
  • Executive communication (2 years): Experience creating and delivering executive-ready presentations that synthesize complex concepts and results of analysis and modeling into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.

Salary: $186,222.00-204,000.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m

Additional Details

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
