The Strategic Communications Manager is a company-wide communications resource who reports to the Chief Technical Officer. The primary focus of the role is translating the technical work of Gravitics into clear, accurate, and consistent communication for the audiences that matter most — commercial and government customers, industry and technical communities, investors, prospective employees, and the Gravitics team itself. The position sits within the CTO organization because the substance of what the company communicates comes out of engineering, advanced programs, and technical operations, and the person in this role needs day-to-day proximity to that work to represent it well. Because the subject matter ranges from hardware and test results to security and compliance topics, this role requires someone who can learn technical material quickly, ask the right questions, and write with equal confidence for an engineer, a program office, or a general audience.
Responsibilities
Day to day, the Strategic Communications Manager works with the CTO and area leads to turn technical and programmatic work into finished communication. This means developing and maintaining the core messaging the company uses to describe its products and programs, keeping the underlying facts and figures accurate and consistent wherever they appear, and producing the material that carries that message — customer and stakeholder briefings, technical papers and conference abstracts, presentations and talking points, announcements, website and social content, and internal updates. They also serve as a review point before material leaves the company, checking outbound content for accuracy and for export-controlled, classified, or customer-proprietary information, and working with the Facility Security Officer and program leads when something needs a closer look. When a milestone, test event, contract award, or unexpected event calls for a public response, this role prepares the message and the supporting material.
Beyond the CTO organization, the Strategic Communications Manager is also available to support the rest of the executive team. There may be work for the Chief Business Officer on proposal and capture narrative or customer-facing capability material, for the CEO or Chief Financial Officer on investor and board communication, for Human Resources on recruiting and employer-brand content, or for the Chief Operating Officer on communication tied to manufacturing, facilities, or safety. This flexibility is a deliberate part of the position: as a growing company, Gravitics benefits from having one skilled communicator who understands the technology well enough to be pointed at the highest-priority message, wherever it sits.
