Work Location: Remote with periodic travel to project sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic region
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
Additional hours, including occasional Saturdays, may be required based on project needs.
Position Summary
A growing construction and fabrication organization is seeking a Steel Construction Project Manager to oversee multiple projects involving fabricated steel and metal systems. This position is responsible for guiding projects through all phases, from planning and procurement to fabrication, installation, and final closeout. The ideal candidate will have experience coordinating complex construction activities while maintaining project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Primary Responsibilities
- Direct and manage projects involving structural steel, miscellaneous metals, joist systems, and metal decking.
- Coordinate engineering, detailing, fabrication, delivery, and field installation activities.
- Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to verify scope, material requirements, and installation details.
- Develop and maintain project timelines, ensuring milestones are met throughout each stage of execution.
- Prepare and process project documentation including submittals, purchase orders, contracts, subcontract agreements, and shop drawings.
- Generate project billing documentation and support monthly invoicing activities.
- Evaluate, prepare, and negotiate project modifications, change orders, and pricing proposals.
- Collaborate with owners, contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors to support successful project execution.
- Monitor material procurement and delivery schedules to prevent delays and maintain workflow.
- Participate in BIM coordination meetings and assist with identifying and resolving design conflicts.
- Track subcontractor performance and address project issues when corrective actions are necessary.
- Maintain complete and accurate project records in both digital and physical formats.
Qualifications
- Minimum of four years of project management experience within construction, steel fabrication, or related industries.
- Demonstrated success managing commercial and/or industrial construction projects.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using project scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to active project sites.
- Familiarity with fabrication and detailing software, including Tekla and Fabtrol, is beneficial.
- Understanding of steel construction processes, materials, and industry best practices.
- Knowledge of project budgeting, quality assurance, and jobsite safety standards.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Work Conditions
- Work may involve exposure to active construction environments, including dust, welding operations, paint fumes, elevated noise levels, and moving equipment.
- Occasional exposure to electrical systems and mechanical hazards may occur while visiting jobsites.
- Approximately 15% travel is required. Mileage reimbursement is available for approved business travel.
