Staff Technical Program Manager (Industry Vertical - Healthcare)

About the Role

We are hiring a Staff Technical Program Manager (L6) to lead the delivery of complex AI-enabled products and customer programs across our healthcare portfolio.

As a Staff TPM, you will independently own end-to-end delivery of multi-team, multi-stakeholder healthcare AI programs with significant customer and regulatory complexity. This is a senior individual-contributor role expected to set program standards, coach other program managers, and influence portfolio-level sequencing.

You will sit at the intersection of healthcare operations, product development, engineering, customer delivery, and governance. You will work directly with health systems and healthcare partners to understand their workflows, establish executable delivery plans, and guide programs from discovery and validation through production launch and expansion.

You will create a structure where requirements are incomplete, surface risks before they become blockers, drive decisions across multiple teams, and maintain a clear source of truth for scope, ownership, dependencies, milestones, and readiness. You will also turn lessons from the programs you lead into reusable practices that make subsequent healthcare implementations faster and more predictable.

What You’ll Do

• Independently lead complex healthcare programs from customer discovery and use-case definition through technical implementation, validation, production launch, and operational transition.
• Partner directly with clinical, operational, IT, security, and executive stakeholders to understand workflows, pain points, data environments, integration constraints, and success measures.
• Translate ambiguous customer needs into clear program scope, requirements, milestones, ownership, dependencies, decision points, and measurable exit criteria.
• Coordinate delivery across product, engineering, AI/ML, platform, infrastructure, security, legal, compliance, and customer teams.
• Establish and maintain an authoritative source of truth for plans, risks, decisions, dependencies, validation status, launch readiness, and customer commitments.
• Manage complex dependencies involving EHR systems, customer APIs, identity and access management, clinical protocols, data access, cloud/on-premises infrastructure, and third-party systems.
• Drive healthcare AI-governance readiness, including use-case registration, risk classification, validation planning, audit evidence, customer reviews, approval gates, and production sign-off.
• Define and execute phased validation approaches (de-identified testing, sandbox, shadow mode, controlled rollout, and formal production acceptance) with explicit quality, safety, reliability, privacy, observability, and rollback criteria.
• Prepare and lead customer program reviews, executive readouts, technical working sessions, governance reviews, and go-live readiness assessments.
• Convert deployment lessons into reusable playbooks, onboarding checklists, validation standards, templates, and program-management mechanisms for the healthcare portfolio.
• Surface cross-program conflicts, capacity constraints, and sequencing decisions, and drive the appropriate leaders to resolution.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in technical program management, product delivery, engineering program management, healthcare implementation, or a related role.
• Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional software or platform programs from ambiguous discovery through production adoption.
• Experience delivering technology in healthcare, life sciences, or another highly regulated environment involving sensitive data and formal approval processes.
• Experience working directly with enterprise customers and communicating effectively with engineers, product leaders, executives, operational teams, and domain experts.
• Strong technical fluency across software architecture, APIs, integrations, data flows, cloud infrastructure, identity, security, testing, deployment, and production operations.
• Ability to engage deeply with engineering teams, understand technical constraints, challenge assumptions, and translate engineering decisions into program and customer impact.
• Experience managing programs with external dependencies, long lead-time approvals, customer-controlled systems, and competing organizational priorities.
• Strong judgment in balancing delivery speed, customer value, technical quality, security, regulatory obligations, and long-term product maintainability.
• Proven ability to influence decisions and drive accountability across multiple teams without relying on direct authority.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including concise executive reporting, decision documentation, risk framing, and customer-facing facilitation.
• Willingness to travel periodically to customer locations for discovery, validation, governance reviews, and production launches.

Preferred

• Experience delivering software or AI capabilities within health systems, academic medical centers, clinical research organizations, healthcare technology companies, or provider operations.
• Experience with EHR implementations or integrations (e.g., Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner).
• Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards and patterns such as FHIR, SMART on FHIR, HL7 v2, CDS Hooks, interface engines, and healthcare APIs.
• Experience managing healthcare privacy, security, and contracting dependencies (PHI, HIPAA, BAAs, audit logging, customer-managed environments).
• Experience with clinical or operational AI-governance processes, model validation, human-in-the-loop workflows, shadow-mode testing, and controlled production rollout.
• Familiarity with AI agents, LLM applications, RAG, guardrails, evaluations, workflow orchestration, and model observability.
• Experience with Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), customer-managed deployments, and secure enterprise software delivery.
• Experience managing programs involving clinical-administrative workflows such as document routing, scheduling, prescription renewal, prior authorization, in-basket management, discharge planning, or clinical research operations.
• Experience building scalable delivery processes that reduce implementation time and customer-specific engineering work across multiple deployments.
• Prior experience in a startup, forward-deployed engineering organization, professional-services environment, or other high-ownership, rapid-execution setting.

Salary Range: $200,000-230,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience, skills, and other factors.
