Position Summary:
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer - Digital to join our Foundation Team — the backbone of our core mobile application. This is not a typical feature development role. You will work horizontally across development teams, leading, owning and evolving the shared platform infrastructure that every engineer at the company depends on.
You will be the first line of defense on mobile platform health — driving security, CI/CD reliability, release process excellence, and architectural standards. If you thrive in a role where your work multiplies the productivity and quality of entire teams, this is the opportunity for you.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform & Foundation Ownership:
- Own and evolve the core iOS platform infrastructure used across all mobile product teams
- Evaluate and govern cross-platform tooling (Flutter, React Native) for use cases where native is not required
- Define and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and best practices across iOS & Flutter teams
- Serve as the primary point of contact and SME for shared mobile platform concerns
- Lead technical design and solutioning for foundational components and cross-cutting concerns
CI/CD Pipeline & Release Engineering:
- Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions (GHA) and CircleCI
- Own the end-to-end release process including App Store submissions, TestFlight distribution, and release automation
- Drive improvements to build speed, test reliability, and deployment confidence
- Establish and maintain release runbooks, branching strategies, and deployment gates
Security & Vulnerability Management:
- Lead mobile security initiatives including dependency vulnerability scanning, code analysis, and remediation
- Partner with security teams to implement and enforce OWASP Mobile Top 10 standards
- Conduct and support security reviews for platform-level changes
- Monitor and respond to CVEs and third-party library vulnerabilities in the iOS & Flutter stack
Cross-Team Collaboration & Enablement:
- Partner closely with iOS product teams to understand needs and provide platform solutions with both iOS native & Flutter
- Act as a technical advisor and escalation point for complex iOS issues across teams
- Create and maintain clear documentation, runbooks, and onboarding materials for platform tools
- Drive alignment on tooling, dependency management, and shared component strategies
Quality & Observability:
- Champion test automation practices including unit, integration, and UI testing frameworks
- Establish monitoring, alerting, and observability standards for the mobile platform
- Drive performance profiling and optimization initiatives across the core app
What We're Looking For:
- Beyond technical skills, we are looking for someone who:
- Thinks in systems — you see how decisions ripple across teams and plan accordingly
- Communicates with clarity — written and verbal, across technical and non-technical audiences
- Is proactive — you identify problems before they become incidents
- Takes ownership — you see things through from design to delivery to documentation
- Is collaborative by nature — you elevate those around you, not just yourself
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of professional iOS development experience with Swift
- 5+ years of experience with CI/CD tools — GitHub Actions (GHA) and/or CircleCI
- 5+ years of experience with mobile security — vulnerability scanning, SAST tools, dependency auditing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven track record of building and maintaining shared platform or SDK-level infrastructure
- Strong communication skills — able to work effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders
- Flutter or cross-platform mobile development experience
- Deep expertise in iOS frameworks: UIKit, SwiftUI, Combine, and Xcode toolchain
- Experience with modular architecture patterns (SPM, XCFrameworks, or similar)
- Solid understanding of memory management, concurrency (async/await, actors), and performance tuning
- Experience supporting or leading iOS platform/foundation teams in a multi-team organization
- Familiarity with mobile observability tools (Firebase, Datadog, Instabug, or similar)
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance considerations in healthcare or fintech mobile apps
- Experience with automated UI testing frameworks (XCTest, EarlGrey, or similar)
- Experience with App Store Connect API and automated release tooling (Fastlane, etc.)
- Strong understanding of the iOS App Store release process, provisioning profiles, and code signing
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)
