Staff Software Engineer, Customer Studio Backend

About the Role

Join the backend engineering team responsible for a core product in a marketing technology platform. You will shape reliable, scalable systems that help customers activate warehouse data, build audiences, and measure performance.

What You'll Do

• Own backend systems, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

• Improve data warehouse performance through query optimization and precomputed state.

• Build analytics and experimentation features for audience creation and performance measurement.

• Develop real-time audience syncing capabilities using change data capture and streaming approaches.

• Partner with product and design to turn customer needs and product specifications into robust backend solutions.

• Guide architectural decisions that balance performance, simplicity, and long-term maintainability.

What We're Looking For

• 6 to 15 years of backend engineering experience, including substantial work designing and building systems at high-growth startups.

• Staff-level experience, with a record of growing responsibilities or promotions during longer tenures.

• Strong systems design fundamentals and experience with large-scale data processing systems.

• Experience building user-focused backend products, engaging with customers, and incorporating their feedback.

• Background in data activation, analytics, or data tooling within SaaS, and familiarity with modern backend technologies.

• A degree in computer science, mathematics, or electrical engineering, or equivalent technical experience.

• Strong communication skills, a history of learning quickly, and primarily backend rather than full-stack, data engineering, or DevOps experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $180,000 to $320,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
